Air Oil Seperator AOS Cleaning HELP!

Hi guys, I am wondering how best to clean the AOS on my 924 Turbo (79-80 series 1). Its fitted with a Parolator AS-902 type AOS which appears to be a sealed unit, unlike the ones with a filler cap on 944s etc.

Would a soak in petrol and blow through with airline do the trick.

Im wanting to do it was smoking heavily at idle the other day after being sat for 2 months while I had the gearbox out. On light throttle and through the rest of the rev range its fine. I believe this is being caused by a blocked AOS so oil is being sucked into the inlet manifold. It will occasionaly idle and run clean.

Also its has fitted a K&N cone type aitfilter so not sure without looking where the pipe that should feed back to the airbox has been plummed, will check this eve.

Just a thought, but you might be drawing brake fluid back from the servo? I have seen that a few times when cars are left to stand for a while

If anyone else is having the same problem it's a fairly simple fix.

I removed the aos and you can carefully cut the heat welded top of with a knife until it unclips. The inside of the aos and all pipes were full of white congealed oil and gunk. I soaked the aos in white spirit a d scrubbed it with a stiff nylon brush. I removed all the pipes that fit up to the block and ran white spirit through them until clear. The inside of the throttle body was also oily under the air filter.
Once dry the lid of the aos was resealed with an epoxy oil proof glue,and all the parts 're installed.
Started up straight away, idled smoother than before and no smoking. I plan to change the oil at the weekend and give the rest of the system a flush through with fresh oil while the sump plug is out.
