4.5 Cayenne S worth a punt
Discussion
I've seen one local within my budget. However with all the stories about bore scoring - is it worth a punt?
The cars on ebay for £7500 and is on 76h with full fsh. However it says "parking sensors, and manual select from gear stick need attention (still works fine from steering wheel select)."
The only worry is I don't want to buy a money pit. I won't be doing many miles if that counts..

you should be able to find one with FSH and the major issues (coolant pipes, cardan shaft and coils) already corrected for less than 7000. I would not pay attention to the total mileage, rather if the repairs have been made (switching over to the aluminum coolant pipes is over 1500 by itself)
From my research the scoring really only effects cars in extremely cold environments and overall only a small percentage of cars. Look for ANY oil usage or rattles/tapping noises from the engine.
I am shopping for one also. Look on Autotrader, there are plenty for sale within your price range there.

Mine is an ex dealer demo car, 2004 V8S, very highly specced. 121,000 miles. All big jobs have been done, new discs, water pipes, drive shaft, etc. superb maintenance record, not that it matters too much on an 11 year old car.
I was offered £5k for it as a px and the dealer seemed to think that they were trying quite hard to get me to change cars.
On that experiencei'd think you'd easily find a good car that is well within your budget.
I'll be keeping mine as it's been a good car.

I think the quote of £1500 for the coolant pipe replacement is a bit high. A good Porsche Indie would replace them for a lot less than that.
If they've not been done on a vehicle your looking at I would look at it as a bargaining point rather than a deal breaker.
Good to know, thanks. We are going to try and look at a few tomorrow morning around West London. If they've not been done on a vehicle your looking at I would look at it as a bargaining point rather than a deal breaker.
