Hi There fellow Cayenne owners

I have a 2006 Turbo S, the tailgate stays up fine when the car is pointing nose downhill but comes down on its own (slowly) when the car is facing uphill

On the flat its neutral (sometimes it stays up and other times it comes down on its own)

Any thoughts please - is there any adjustment available or does this problem require a new part

Thanks for your thoughts and response

sounds like you need new gas struts, fairly common issue, might be worth checking the rear glass screen struts can take the weight also as they can both fail.

My 958 Cayenne has just had its struts changed under warranty. It's a powered tailgate and they were creaking quite badly. Thankfully replaced under warranty at Leicester OPC. Dread to think how much they would have been if I had to pay for them...

Shame they don't last, on set number three looking at old paperwork. Luckily only had to pay for the last set, still not too expensive in porsche world parts. Hopefully have been "revised" this time.

where did you buy your struts please - they seem to vary greatly in price

There are two sets, one for the overall and another smaller set just to lift the glass section.

Yes, I know that thank you. I was wondering where others purchased their main door lift struts? Buying in from the US seems the best option
