Hi, any recommendations for garages in the Berks region who could take care of a 944?

not quiet Berkshire, but could be worth speaking to Max at Lakeside engineering in Addlestone, Surrey. They deal principally in Lotus but also do Porsche, Max has had one for a goodly while, ph 01932 340003. Almost every time I go there they have a Porker of some description there, so they know there onions I would suggest. HTH

I love Northway near Reading, they are knowledgable, friendly, helpful, honest, great value. I have used them for years & would have to say they are the best garage I have used so far. GT One in Chertsey are also excellent, really helpful again.
It's the smaller operations, where you are dealing with the owner and techs answer the phone, where I find the service is at the level I expect

Indeed, or if you need an excuse to drive the A429 then EMC in Bham have been looking after race and road front runners for longer than most people can remember.

Several Hants/Dorset members recommend Jon Mitchell (www.jmgporsche.co.uk) although some distance from you but is a recognised specialist on 944 and derivatives!

There are plenty of specialists, but most are miles away, or not interested in the older cars unless you have a silly budget.

Having lost faith in RPM after ten years of paying them a lot of money, I was going to choose from Ninex, or Hillcrest in Henley. I ended up at Chelsea Carrera in Wycombe.

Well-priced, and they were happy to weigh-up work needed against the use the car gets. But, communication was awful. Really awful...

I'll go back next time: I think they are great for the work, but need to employ someone to deal with phones, paperwork etc. smile
