Hi All

I notice by the driver's side there is a boot release switch and a headlamp levelling switch. In front of that is a rocker switch but, despite looking in the manual, I can't seem to find out what this does. Can anyone emighten me? I've asked over on the Porsche Club website but that forum seems quite uninhabited.....

Any help appreciated.

Pass. Is it an aftermarket kick down bypass (makes the box change down more eagerly). Common mod in some quarters.

I don't know. I have seen it on many S4s though. Cheers

Probably the "vent switch" - part of the original alarm system, it allowed the interior sensors to be disabled if the owner wished to leave the windows open or leave a dog in the car etc. Not mentioned in the manual because the alarms were not factory-fitted but added by UK OPCs.

I have no switch on my 1990 S4, just the headlamp leveller and boot release. My is LHD and came with factory fitted alarm however.

As said, on UK cars the alarm was aftermarket fitted by the dealers.

It's certainly sounding as though that's the answer. Many thanks everyone!

True, I had an issue with mine as it would stick on and the windows would be trying to shut whenever the car was locked, meaning the battery drained in no time!
