RALLY TO NORWAY IN 944'S
Discussion
Hi everyone, I am new to this forum (normally on another forum). In case anyone is interested nine Porsche 944's are heading off from London on June 18th to Nordkapp Norway for the Help 4 Heroes charity. We plan to do nearly 3000 miles in 3 to 4 days arriving for the summer solstice on Sat 21st. Our cars were all bought for £1100ish plus whatever to make them roadworthy. Day one will take us to Riga, Latvia, about 1500 miles (before our first proper sleep). Anyway, if you are interested in our story check out our FB page. Needless we have not been without incident so far and interestingly the cars seem to have experienced the full range of common faults. Elliot at Porkaparts has been our saviour.
Check us out. I hope you will wish us all luck. Nick

Ladies and gentlemen of the front engined forum. Well the Norwegian NightKapp Rally made it. The pic shows the London start of an epic journey with our nine 944's setting out on the 5800 mile trip to Norway and back in 8 days.
Living with these cars for such punishing mileage endeared us to them and a pashion for the 944 grew as we drove some of the best driving roads in Europe, most of them empty. What other car can even come close to these for the money?

We took several spare DME relays but none failed. What was interesting in the run up to departure two of our 16v cars suffered burnt wiring looms. One was purchased with the problem and the other developed the problem a couple of weeks before departure. It seems these cars were originally recalled for a factory fix but obviously a few slipped through the net. We got the looms replaced in time but this would have been a show stopper if it happened en route.
