944 Roof Bars

Hi all

Does anyone have a set of roof bars or mounts for a 944 that they no longer require. Seems Thule etc no longer make them (no surprise)

A proper 'roof transportation system' is a rare find, but most adjustable roof bats will fit a 944 with careful adjustment and a little thought.

Thanks for posting - are both the front and rear the same mount? i.e. grip the roof frame at the front and the "rail" at the back?

Yes, its a generic pair of roof bars which both have identical bases. The rain gutter hook goes around the rain channel moulding (it had a channel in the 924 and early 944 style which was replaced with a flush style in around 1984).

It doesn't fasten onto the rear mounting in any way, but only the original Porsche part does.

I have carried large and heavy items over the years on 924s, 944s and 968s, but I always secure the load to the car using tie downs (through the doors) so that the roof rack only has to keep the stuff off the roof and not hold the stuff on.
