Toying with buying a 2007 Porsche Cayenne

Hi All,
Always wanted a 911 however with the impending arrival of our first nipper that ship (or car) has set sail.
I can't face getting rid of my Jag so the Mrs has agreed that we get a 4x4 - she wants a new E70 X5 (diesel ) however I am fighting on behalf of the Porsche Cayenne which she thinks looks ugly and old....
I'm thinking about the facelift version and looking at the 3.6 V6.
Not interested in economy, tyres, servicing etc etc but more interested in what they are like to drive and live with. Has anybody ever owned one? Any tips when looking to buy besides the obvious?
Any comments would be much appreciated.

Minor comment would be do not buy the 3.6 V6. Economy is ball park identical between the V6, V8 and Turbo, so bloke logic decrees that FI is the way to go
In terms of the missus, get her inside one, as the interior looking out is a different matter to the exterior looking in - they are a lovely place to spend time in. You might not want, depending on her taste, to demonstrate the utterly ridiculous way they have when pushing through UK backroads.
There are a fair few Cayenne threads on here, but check work done, and a really close look at tyre wear patterns - some of them eat tyres, some of them don't. Uneven wear, or brand new tyres might suggest an eating tendency in a dealer stock car.

Interesting - it's a theory I will always stick by that big but underpowered cars need more push, hence use more juice...could be just man logic though.
I will get her in one at the weekend, might have to throw a handbag in to sweeten the deal but think it's worth it! The thought of having the BM sound like a taxi has pulled up outside makes me shudder - especially as we only do 5k miles a year!

My personal theory is that something the size of the Matterhorn with a small engine (because a 3.6 is tiny, really!) needs it to work harder to keep up.And the difference between the V6 and the Turbo depends on the driver - pootling along like a granny, they are both quite similar. Trying to break land speed records across country, and the Turbo is, frankly, incomprehensible, given it is a behemoth 4x4.
