Extended warranty or wear and tear
Discussion
I think I know the answer but worth a check on here.
I have my gt4 on the Porsche extended warranty and it's 9 yrs old and the air con is losing its oomph. I had a health check a couple of months ago and it showed some minor ac leaks on the drivers side and stated likely seals or pipes need replacing.
I'm assuming this will be classed as wear and tear and so not covered on the extended warranty however has anyone a view/experience on this? It's a fairly common problem from what I understand.

I've replaced the condensers in 5 Boxsters and Caymans over the last 15 years. On the first couple of cars I had a leak check and refrigerant refill but it only lasted a short while. There are other potential leak points but condensers have sorted our issues and they are an easy DIY job.
Sounds like a warranty job to me if it's the pipes/connections and I wonder why they didn't address it at the health check? AC re-gas on its own won't be warranty.
It's mainly lack of use that causes the seals to dry out, AC is supposed to be operating all the time - that's the default positon if you have Climate Control.
My mistake many years ago only switiching AC on in hot weather cost me various AC parts. Since then I've always run AC on all the time in all cars and on my old Audi it was 17yrs before it needed a top up of gas!

OP, I agree with all of this. It's mainly lack of use that causes the seals to dry out, AC is supposed to be operating all the time - that's the default positon if you have Climate Control.

The gas itself won't be covered under warranty (I paid a specialist to regas mine), but the rest of it should be.
Also, make sure AC is running all the time.
