Wifey's 981 not starting. Battry has been problematic before so I'll bit the bullet and get a new one as per other threads.

However heres the kicker. Connect driver footwell red terminal thingy and door latch to my 911 battery and the froot still wont open as is always/usually the case. Have tried several combinations of jump leads and no joy.

Oh well thinks I, I'll resort to the wheel arch liner approach (another Saturday wasted). All I need is to get the wheel is the locking wheel nut which is ......in the froot! Arrrggghhh!!!!

Any suggestions?
Not under extended warranty, have greenflag breakdown but cant see they will be able to help.

TLDR; Flat battery, cant open froot usual way, locking nut not avaialble.

Check the door hinge connection - I had to jiggle it a couple of times to ensure it was a good contact then it worked.

I'm sure I've read the past that holding the key button to open for 30 seconds OR holding the release button on the panel for 30 seconds is what's required as a single press doesn't work. Sorry I can't point to source.

On my 997.1 I installed a second manual release cable behind the DRL, as it was much easier to get to than the Porsche one, behind the wheel arch liner.
I've not got around to figuring out to replicate it in my997.2 as the DRL's dont pop out from the front of the bumper.

What are you using to try to open the front? I have found that some battery packs don’t deliver enough power. It has always worked when I have used jumper cables and the new battery.

All sorted. I caved and rang the AA. Chap used one of their power packs and jump leads and out of popped. It might have been user error tho on my part!!!

I had clipped the jumps to the side of the pop out red thing (where can see metal) and AA man claimed it was right to clamp vertically if that makes sense

Anyway all sorted
