PH'ers,

I have a 2018 718 Cayman S and on my last two trips noted the Maps function is showing me being 2/3 towns over. Weirdly enough, if I enter a route into the SatNav it also shows the route starting from the wrong location.

I have reset the PCM and tried turning the car on/off but to no avail. Have read online about a 148 reset on 991s but not sure what it refers to.

Any ideas? Would like to avoid disconnecting the battery if possible to avoid other gremlins.

Thanks in advance!

Check the connection to the antenna. Have you had any work done on the car recently?

Battery dieconnection doesn't cause gremlins in Porsches in my experience - I'd give it a try. I have experienced the issue you describe, but it corrected itself after the car was driven for a mile or two. How long has this persisted? Do you live in a city will lots of tall buildings?

No work - I know this is common if a windscreen is changed etc. I assume the connection is behind the rear view mirror?

Last drive I did was only a couple of miles so might take it for a blast on the motorway. Last journey was 2 weeks ago (its a crime i dont drive it more).

Live in a semi rural area so can imagine the signal can get bad but never experienced it before.

One thought is whether i drive to the location it says im in and whether that will cause it to reset driving

Have you set "home" as a location in the sat nav? My 2021 718 Cayman defaulted to Porsche Bolton as a start point for most journeys when new, but I seem to recall it got better after I told it where it lived. The MyPorsche app fared slightly less well, frequently telling me the car was in a field just off the A56 with the driver's door unlocked, and both front windows open, when I was away on business. It somehow returned to my locked workshop without accruing additional miles before I got home every time.

The latter has improved a little with the current Porsches in the workshop, but the app still chooses to raise my pulse over false claims of unlocked doors to this day.

There is a recall for the antenna on some cars - i had it done on my 2017 CGTS when it was in for MOT last year at the OPC. Could be worth a call?

I had a TTRS in 2019 with exactly this issue, after three attempts by Audi to fix the car was rejected..

I had the same issue on my 2018 Boxster S - the satnav sometimes thought I was one or two streets over from where I actually was. This was an intermittent fault, sometimes it was entirely lost.
The car went into the OPC who diagnosed it as a wiring connection issue to the satnav antenna. They resolved the problem but I think it may have involved the removal of the rear bumper.
It seems fine at the moment, they said that if the issue reoccurred they would need to replace the satnav antenna.

Had this after my windscreen was replaced on my 987. There's a connector under the scuttle panel which hadn't been reconnected correctly. I'm making an assumption that it's probably similar on a 718, and have you have a screen replaced, or the scuttle panel removed for any reason?

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Oddly the issue seems to have fixed itself after a 30~ drive through a couple of towns. Assuming it was a satellite connection issue vs hardware.

If you get funny GPS results always worth checking your local NOTAMs to see if anyone is playing !

987 and 997 GPS module is under the scuttle, yes; later models it's on the windscreen behind a cowl on the mirror.
