GT4 front mesh grill stone chips/touch up?

Hi Everyone, my 981 GT4 front grill is taking an absolute battering, presumably from stones while driving (images below).

I’ve read that the paint here isn’t particularly hard wearing, has anyone touched this up themselves and has some tips they can share? I’d rather not go to the hassle of taking the bumper off to replace the grills for now.

As for colour, most that I’ve seen online are a dark grey but mine are definitely black, not sure if this means the previous owner has already painted them? Seems strange some would be grey and other black from factory.

I'm sure some simple back paint would do the job.
