So my GT4 is due its 4 year service and was surprised at the cost thats being quoted from my OPC (Leicester) so decided to cast the net around the country to other OPCs. The results are below for future reference and who gives PCGB discount (already deducted from the price)...

718 GT4 4 YER SERVICE TOTAL DISC
HULL 1,590.61 y
ABERDEEN 1,601.50
NOTTINGHAM 1,649.68 y
NEWPORT 1,659.06 y
TEWKSBURY 1,682.26
COLCHESTER 1,713.28 y
SHEFFIELD 1,808.62 y
SOLIHULL 1,832.00
SILVERSTONE 1,832.00
PRESTON 1,853.08
SUTTON COLDFIELD 1,861.20 y
LEICESTER 1,649.68 y

I know its a Porsche, but these prices are a bit ridiculous!

Pretty sure thats the Major with sparks, so never going to be cheap, I'd be more inclined to see whats included as there's always a few extra's..

£1600 odd sounds about right, probably £500 less if with indie...

Seems about right for an OPC. They wanted £1500 for 8 year service on my base 981.

Agreed, £1600 after PCGB discount for parts, sounds about the norm, at OPC.’s I would be inclined to keep to an OPC for servicing of a GT4 as this assists in preserving its resale value. Often helps tp have other work done, if needed, such as brakes/ tyres as this helps towards improving the overall % discount. Is it a 2 day job? as my 992 is, as this adds to the labour cost element.

I will be sticking with the OPC as the car is under warranty and just had the a PADM replaced at nearly £2k, so I'm keen its preserved as the otherside will probably go before too long!

I'd do anything to keep that warranty rock solid to be honest. My 981 just went in for PADM failure and it ended up having just under £7k of work - all under warranty.

As the OP says some of those OPC figures ££ will include EITHER the 10 % PGB discount or around 10% discretionary discount if you push for one.

Other factors to consider are the quality of the loaner as the 4 yr service is a 2 day job also whether the price includes the brake fluid change (should do) aircon service (may do if needed) also whether it includes the MOT at around £54 and various other work which MAY be needed e.g. my OPC will clear out leaves and other accumulated debris adjoining the front rads etc and will also check geo free etc.

FWIW I am paying £1600 all in incl quality loaner for my 718 GT4 manual when it goes in for the 4 year in a coupleof weeks.

Incidentally there is some confusion even amongst OPCs regarding the correct spec oil to be used in the 718 GT4 this continues to be the green Mobil 1 as opposed to the new red Mobil 1 now specified for RS and other Porsche GTs etc.

When you say a quality loaner, what is it that you’re getting? Everytime I’ve had mine in, I’ve ended up with a Macan. No complaints as it lets me get to and from the garage perfectly well but interested in other places are putting people in something more fun! Did you get options?

Generally a 911 or Macan although had to suffer with a new A5 last time when mine went in for PADM failure on 1 side. Took me an age how to work out how to turn all the bonging nanny state driver aids off at which point more intrusive bonging continued warning me they were disabled. A frustrating sign of things to come I fear. banghead

This is off the report:

Padm mount pressure sensor faulty, new padm mount required and associated nuts and bolts ( warranty ) £2,065.96
Checked spoiler drive and found bolt for pivot point on o/s missing. new spoiler drive required ( warranty ) £1,683.07
Exhaust actuator seized, new silencer n/s required and clamps to centre section and gasket and bolts for joint to cat ( warranty ) £2,193.93

It was £6k apologies. I opted to have another 600 odd quid of corrosion work sorted on the exhaust too, which wasn't covered. Still, a sobering reminder of how costs can pile up, even on a 9 year old 981 GTS.

Regarding people's comments on loan cars - I've had a Cayenne and Macan S. The latter was surprisingly zippy driving

Also demonstrates that even though you pay through the nose for an OPC service it pays to have that warranty in place
