What are they called or known as on the black and blue car?

Was there a price difference?
Personal preference I think I prefer the ones on the blue, what are others consensus?

think the top ones were an optional extra and were the carrera S 20 inch wheels, no idea what the original cost was though

The top ones on the black car are Carrera Classic 20" wheels, the bottom ones are Carrera S 20" wheels, both optional.

A little more detail here from a quick google...

BTW. In AU, the S wheels on the blue car were $5,420.00 extra when new and the other Classics were a mere $7,500.00.

In the UK, the top alloys are the Carrera Classics and were a £2154 option in 2020. They're now a £4192 if bought from Porsche as an accessory.

The ones in the bottom picture are the standard Cayman S and are Carrera S sport wheels but are a £3770 as an accessory.

I had the Carrera S on my 981CS. I prefer these, but be aware that the inner faces of the spokes can and do get stone chipped very easily.

Interesting you say that. I was ambivalent between them; When I was looking, however, the ones with the S wheels all showed a lot more ‘patina’ of stones etc than the Classics.

I think they both look great in person.

The top ones are also diamond cut and these wheels do carry a premium when speccing the car

And, IIRC, weigh more.
Yep.

I do my own smart repairs on the wheels of our cars that have painted wheels. I can get a reasonable repair down in just a few minutes. Not so with diamond cut wheels.

I don't understand the appeal of diamond cut wheels, they can only be refurbished 2-3 times in their lifetime. Is it just because they look shinier?

Yes. They look good in showrooms and manufacturers are like sheep when it comes to this sort of thing. They think they will be left behind if they don't put them on cars.

Interesting point about the Carrera S wheels, I have them on my 981 Boxster and they are still in pristine condition since being refurbed by Lepsons in February despite Oxfordshire’s terrible roads. Hopefully they stay that way! The Carrera Classic wheels are lovely but I do prefer the S design and think they really suit the car.
