I've dithered around for too long, and noticing that these have now dropped under £20k for a reasonable example I'm keen to understand a bit more from the people who drive them before I commit.

Presumably the IMS and bore scoring are no concern, given that it's the 7.2 engine?

I'd like to use it on a few trackdays a year without resorting to aftermarket suspension 'mods'. What's PASM like for that?

Per usual with Porsche it seems like it's all about ticking the right options. I assume Sport Chrono is mandatory given I want a PDK car, but which others are deal-breakers for owners?

Thanks in advance.

Can I ask why?

I was advised by mates who have had them to give active engine mounts a miss as they regularly go wrong and are not cheap if you are out of warranty.

I've got the 987.2 with a manual. The 7.2 engine is the updated DFI engine and is free from the bore scoring woes of the previous engines. Any engine can bore score if they're abused, but Porsche seemed to solve the issue for the DFI engines. They do have their own issues though, albeit not as expensive to sort. The High Pressure Fuel Pump can fail on the DFI engines which is about a £1200 part although I've only heard of a couple of failure on the the forums. Other things to look for are usual Porsche things, condensers and crossover tubes.

As for PASM, depends really. Ive tracked mine in stock suspension and running Conti SC7's. I probably could do with changing to stiffer springs and dampers to make the most of a dry circuit but it's primarily a road car and I think is perfectly sprung for 80/20 road and track. Brakes are good and you can lean on them a lot if you fit decent pads. Front GT3 brake ducts are cheap and easy to fit for a bit more cooling, although it's the rears that take more abuse, I learned this the hard way when I forgot to take my pad sensors out on my 1st outing and melted them lol.

I don't have sport Chrono on mine so wouldn't be able to comment, but if you're using the car off the track the upgraded headlights, Bose and memory seats are nice to have.

Also avoid anything with a modded exhaust that isn't switchable. Mine has a standard exhaust with the Carnewal mod, who h essentially bypasses some of the baffles I think, tested at 97Dba static !
