Quick one guys -

I bought an adapter to plug into the charging points ( one in the glove box and the other in the arm rest thingy ( sorry)) from Halfords so I can charge my IPhone.

I now notice that the chargers are not the same size as one just pushes the adaptor back out and the glove box one doesn't seem to stay in very well.

Is there a Porsche one I should used that will fit both sockets or can anyone link one that I can order up ?

Don't want to order the wrong bloody one again !

TIA

There are two types of plugs with different lengths between the pointy end and the two side contacts. Not very technical explanation I’m afraid.

There a 12v socket underneath the glove box too. Is that the one you mean?

You have to turn yourself upside down in the footwell to find it.

Yes one inside the glove box and there is one in the arm rest too but, for some reason they don't want to hold the socket I bought from Halfords:

There must be a certain fitment that I need

I seem to recall the handbook tells you which type to use if you have access to one - I think it’s one with the shorter “plug” that you need. Available anywhere no need to go to Porsche.

Many tks I'll take a look at the weekend.

All the guy in Halfords said when I asked if it would fit was " Yes mate , totally universal" .

I really should have known better !

The glovebox has a USB charger which should take an iPhone cable.

The glovebox is USB-A type, so you need that on one end to a Lightning or USB-C depending on what iPhone you have.

Would suggest the official one or highly rated 3rd party manufacturer like Anker. If it's coming loose perhaps the cable is being pulled out of the socket? In which case buy a slightly longer one; Anker sell them of different lengths.

A standard iPhone cable should comfortably reach from the glove box to MagSafe phone mount on the air vent

Great detail many tks.

The USB charger I have in the glovebox fits but feels like it pushes itself out and does not fit in the arm rest compartment at all . I'd have thought they would be universal but doesn't seem so .

I'll have a a look at your recommendations tks again

From my manual

What I use - many other makes/models available I am sure

In situ, used to power a MagSafe charger

I was not aware of a USB slot in the arm rest. Was your car fitted with PCM from new, as may be a different configuration to other cars? Otherwise this might be an aftermarket fitment.

I've checked my manual and the only factory-fitted USB slot is in the glovebox. This is also where the AUX port is.

Ha! I had this in draft for ages and forgot to press submit!!

The 981 user manual has specific instructions on what 12v sockets should and should not be used

Sorry OP, I didn't realise you were talking about plugging into the 12v cig lighter socket with an adapter. Thought you were referring to the USB port in the glovebox smile

There must be a certain fitment that I need
1/ inside glove box.
2/ in arm rest.
3/ UNDER glove box, in underside of the dash, below the glove box. This is where I have my dash cam plugged in with cigar lighter adapter. This leaves 1 and 2 free.
