GT4RS Intake wind noise
Discussion
Having now been out in my PTS 4RS for its first drive yesterday, i wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced wind noise from what i can only describe as side carbon intakes?
It was a windy day and i noticed from 55-75 (Within UK limits ) lower speeds nothing..
I am used to all types of noises in my GT car i own but this was a rather (oh that's crap)

To be fair it is a difficult one to give any sensible comment on. For what it’s worth my 4RS did not suffer from any unusual wind noise issues. It had lots and lots of NVH issues but not wind noise. At motorway speeds and on light throttle openings there was a lot of tyre noise, and general engine noise but none of the intake blare that love it or hate it is the signature of this car. The build quality of my last couple of Caymans, a GT4 and a 4RS, have been fairly poor to be fair. Certainly felt much less well screwed together than my old Cayman R. Not sure if that is just a bit of bad luck or signs of a deteriorating build quality?
Sounds like something is not quite aligned if it’s that noticeable.

I would always try to add a potentially useful 2p but I also am a bit lost with this one.
I saw it said here (so it must be true) that the minimum noise level difference that the human ear can define (subject to frequency) is 3dB which is a doubling of the energy in the noise, distance from the noise rapidly reducing this.
Certainly the air intakes on the GT4 are very close to the ear and carbon fibre is extremely rigid potentially transmitting and resonating higher frequencies quite efficiently .... ???
So maybe Weissach does make a difference to this ? I am guessing that Porsche will know and to be fair ... the noise was something that they celebrated at launch.

Interesting theory Chris.I saw it said here (so it must be true) that the minimum noise level difference that the human ear can define (subject to frequency) is 3dB which is a doubling of the energy in the noise, distance from the noise rapidly reducing this.

Perhaps Finmac could advise what his non WP 4RS is like.
