Hi I have found a 981 Boxster for sale at an OPC, everything looks ok mileage, owners etc the only thing I'm not sure on is the red roof with the guards red body, I think black would of looked better. Can a black canvas be fitted and if so what sort of cost would it be? Many Thanks 9heres a link to the car)

Ooof, proper 90s spec that - I kind of like it though, even it is a little in one's face. I've not done it personally but I would ballpark £3k for a replacement.

Ive been sent a video of the car with roof up and the different shade of red looks odd IMO, obviously might suit some one, but I really think black would look better?

I'd pass on that. The roof is more burgundy than red so not a good match and would be difficult to sell and its got luxor interior which also isnt a great seller.

Not for for me
I've had a carmine Red 718 with black roof and interior. Loved it.
I'm now in a GT silver 981 with a Carrera red interior and roof.. I love it more.

But Red paint, beige interior and different red roof.
No thanks!hurl

If it wasn't a decent car an OPC would not be touching one that age, if you are happy with the spec why not make them a fair offer conditional on it having a black roof - what do you have to lose?

Thank you for the replies. I have asked the OPC about the possibility of changing the roof in the deal and they have said no the price is fixed. It’s a shame because I don’t mind the interior?

Yeh, that’s a no from me, too. There’s a reason there are no pics with the roof up I suppose.

Also, that’s as basic a spec as you could ever find. Not sure a single option box was ticked (other than sat nav).

Cracking cars, but no need to compromise like this.

Actually if you read the options list you'll see quite a few options were ticked. Not sure the right ones in my view, but that's just my opinion! Basic 981 spec was very basic indeed...

As for the red on red, normallY I love these less obvious combinations but in this case just doesn't work.

Search for some placce like the "car hood warehouse" and see what the cost of a replacement is. Won't be genuine Porsche though, so wonder whether it impacts warranty.

I stand corrected - there’s a smattering of cheap options and PDK.

It’s still probably the poorest spec 981 I’ve seen for sale. And a shocker of a colour scheme to boot. Can’t find a good reason to investigate this one further.

Do you mean other than the fact the OP likes it and the only thing he not sure about is the hood colour and would have preferred it to have been black?

Yes, other than that. But if he wants to part with his money on something so basic when there’s plenty of much higher spec 981 Boxsters out there, who am I to give feedback.

Thanks again for the replies. I think any one other than Porsche changing roof will effect the Porsche warranty. OPC have said there’s no movement on price and a roof replacement at OPC is £3000 plus labour. Tbh I can understand them not wanting to get involved in changing roof etc I’m sure someone will like the combination but it just doesn’t work for me.

No it looks more of a different shade than that picture. The car is on autotrader too with some pictures of the roof up.

Not sure how you'll go on with that light dash reflecting in the windscreen.

Not a fan of those all-one-colour light interiors myself. I do like a light interior, but layered with contrast black dash, steering wheel and door card toppers, like this...

Had a Boxster S with the beige leather interior. The reflections in bright sunshine from the dash onto the windscreen were horrendous, borderline intolerable.

Worth considering if you have a test drive.
