718 GTS Options?
Discussion
Thanks First Sea Lord, very interesting.
Youforreal, I understand what you're saying but I'm interested in peoples views in the real world so to speak.
As an example when I speced my Atom I didn't go for parking cameras as I thought they were pointless. However I wish I had as it transpires because when you were strapped in visibility is really poor when parking.

None are essential imo. That said:
1. I would really miss Climate control (vs the standard a/c) and reversing camera.
2. If you intend doing much night driving then the LEDs with PDLS are a real "Nice to Have".
3. I'd avoid cars with the -10mm PASM option. The GTS as standard comes with Sport PASM (-20mm) which is very comfortable in Normal mode, no need to soften it up any more or slightly compromise the handling imo.
4. Bose? It's better than the standard fit, but still a bit rubbish. The best reason for getting it is that the upgrade path is much easier if you start with the Bose.
5.Seats. A very personal choice.
The 2 way Sports Plus seats are my favourite of any currently offered by Porsche. They also go a little lower than the 18 way, which if you are over 6 foot may have a bearing.
6. I'm a fan of the GT steering wheel, a bit smaller and I like basic system controls on the wheel. Plus it's heated, nice on a cold morning, a real treat if you are going for a Boxster. I'd guess this would be the majority preference?
Some like the visual simplicity of an uncluttered wheel.
Edited to add > 7. Electrically Folding Mirrors. Not standard.
Being at the top of the range for normal 718's most buyers will have an expectation that the interior befits a £80k car? But not all, so a zero option interior isn't an unpleasant place to be.
I didn't spec GTS interior for example, because I wanted to avoid the carbon fibre trim and coloured tacho. Instead I added leather and some brushed aluminium trim. Much more to my taste and the interior feels subtle but classy.
The raft of interior options can be a bit bewildering, and some are a little crazy. Leather fuse box cover anyone? Mahogany steering wheel?
When looking for pre-owned be aware that standard options change between model years. For example MY23 gave standard cruise control iirc, having some clue of what you are looking at helps. Using the current configurator will clarify what some of the options actually are.
Dealer descriptions are frequently wrong, so be an informed viewer/purchaser.

I’ve just bought a used 4.0 GTS and I wanted a red car with GTS interior with carbon, LED PDLS, 10mm PASM and climate. Finding the right car with everything was proving difficult. In the end I compromised on climate and have no regrets. The std air con is perfectly adequate. That said i have climate in 3 other cars and have never run them on auto so making minor adjustments every now and is nothing new to me.
Only the things that would annoy you every time you drive the car if you didn’t have them. For me it was 18 way seats (really good with my dodgy back), auto climate and auto dim mirrors. And I might add the reversing camera for a Boxster but less of an issue for me with my previous Cayman.
As said above, options are very personal.
We went leather interior rather than the GTS alcantara and specced 14 way seats.
And contrary to advice above, we have the -10mm suspension.
Our other options are pretty standard fare. The Heated Steering wheel is good with the Boxster, LED lights, reverse camera, climate, BOSE, etc.
Good luck in your search.

Again, this is a personal preference
Standard stereo is perfectly fine however I would add some sound deadening to the doors. It makes so much difference. If the car already has it then fine.
Definitely dual zone climate. Not for the dual zone bit but for the 'set and forget' part. Should be standard really.
If you want the GTS package then get it but IMO its not worth the £2500 uplift. I optioned for alcantara interior with extended leather which gives you exactly the same bits apart from coloured stitching and carbon for half the price. The GTS package is not a must have.
Seats are subjective. Try before you buy.
Auto dimming mirrors I'd say yes. You are very low and cars behind can dazzle.
Bi-Xenon PDLS are better than the standard Bi-Xenon and the LED PDLS are even better but expensive. I have the Bi-Xenon PDLS and, with lots of night driving, find them perfect.
Heated steering wheel....absolutely if you drive it all year round.
Multifunction steering wheel for me is great. Not really a lover of the third stalk. Sets my OCD off!

Really appreciate everyone's comments here, very helpful.
So as it stands the definites are: the LEDs with PDLS, BOSE, GTS Alcantara, and Electrically Folding mirrors. Various good likes but nothing else a dealbreaker for me
Just need to find the right one now, ideally in the Aventurine Green with the gold wheels ( appreciate it's not very popular) or the blue

If you want Aventurine with Gold you may be better off finding one in Aventurine and changing the wheel colour yourself. It may make your search a little easier. I only know of one AG/Gold that was bought by a PCGB member last week IIRC.

This is exactly what I did. The only thing to be cautious of is the lack of gold centres that are available so you would have to have the existing ones painted.https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/details/porsch...
