My (new to me) 2.7 base 981 Boxster is just over 11 years old now and I’ve decided to get the PDK service done a bit early for peace of mind. The car has just ticked over 70k miles so it’ll be due on time not miles.

Chatting to my local specialist, there seems to be a bit of confusion over exactly what needs doing. He seems to think that only the clutch oil needs changing and the transmission oil doesn’t need doing. The service book does suggest both need doing but it’s written a bit ambiguously and muddies the waters with talk of 4wd 911s in the same section.

Looking at PDK service packs online at the likes of Design911 etc for those happy to DIY they also come with the plastic sump pan with integral filter and the associated gasket and bolts. Does this also need to be changed?

If anyone can shed some light on which of the 3 options is correct, I’d be most grateful!

Take a look on boxa.net - a number of members carrying out this job recently.

Thanks, as you say some good info on there.

Despite the large amount of misinfo on the web, it seems the correct answer is both fluids need doing but that the sump pan, bolts and gasket is overkill and not necessary. Will speak to my specialist on Monday.

IIRC Clutch fluid change is at 60k miles (6yrs?) and transmission fluid at 120k (12yrs) so if that's the case both will now be due.

The clutch fluid is easy as it doesn't need PIWIS whereas the transmission fluid change needs to be performed through PIWIS as it peforms a number of function tests, although some have stated that for a straightforward flush and refill PIWIS is not required?

The pan 'should' be changed but not everyone does. Kit should be c£200-£250 with pan and fluid from third party. Example Here
