918 bucket seat inserts
Discussion
I have just received my new Justin Placek
inserts and when I went to fit them to the passenger seat I have found there is a wire going to the foam for an airbag sensor. There is nothing on the drivers seat. If anyone else fitted new foams did you tease off the sensor and refit to new foam or use a blanking plug for the sensor. I assume you disconnect the battery if you need to unplug it ?

They moved the passenger occupancy sensor in 2021 I believe, see below from Classic FX. You had to specify that you needed a sensor from them when I bought my covers.
I know that you need the sensor or you get an airbag light (it happens with aftermarket seats) but with PIWIS it may be possible to code it out but if you do no pax airbag. To add complication the pass detection module is coded so if you buy a new one you will need a PIWIS to 'connect' you car.
Perhaps call you supplier, they really should know.
"Classic FX replacement foams now available for 918 fixed lightweight buckets. Precise CNC cut from the originals for a detailed fit exactly the same as the factory ones in look and feel…. At a fraction of the cost Classic FX set’s (two seats) are £300. Base passenger occupancy sensor can also be fitted (Porsche part) if required at extra cost, passenger sensor possibly fitted to MY 2021 an onwards. please check an advise when ordering. So plug & play for minimal fitting now available"

I thought these were covers to replace the existing covers over the foam? Isn’t the wiring in the foam?
I had ClassicFX covers and they fitted a treat to the padded inserts after I removed the alcantara. I had the folding buckets and the only wire connectors I had were to the heating elements connecting each pad?

Inserts now fitted very pleased with the quality of Justin’s work . The inserts come in a handy bag. Once fitted the quality can be seen in the pics that the pattern on the two inserts matches especially with pascha interior. Very retro but I think it suits the Arctic grey and lightens the cabin . Not cheap but fantastic quality . As my 23 plate had the airbag sensor I removed this from the old foam and fitted it on the new foam without disconnecting it

I’ve had stuff done by the guy, honestly his work equals if not exceeds OEM.
