718 Cayman S Service History
Discussion
I purchased a March 2017 approved Cayman S from Porsche 2 weeks back with what I thought had FPSH as the website states this is the criteria for approved used and it has a Porsche 2 year warranty. However, the service book was posted to me which I've received today but to me the service history isn't full as it's the below:
March 2019 on 13k miles - Oil and brake fluid
November 2022 on 21.5k miles - Oil and brake fluid
April 2023 - 21.6k miles - Air cleaner replaced, drive belt replaced and tyre sealing replaced.
What would people advise?

I emailed them when I got home (250 mile away) as the service book wasn't with all the paperwork. They said they'd send me a replacement service book and apologised. The one I've just received in the post has obviously just been written up from their service records as it's all the same pen, handwriting and stamps.

That's not the case though is it, it should of had a major service March 2021. It doesn't appear to of had that with just an oil service it November 2022, 20 months late, to me that's no oil change for 44 months. I wouldn't be happy with that. Wonder if it had a non franchise service in 2021???

Well if the engine went what would Porsche say.
This will be a problem come sale time, phone a different opc up and make out you were looking at selling the car with that history and see what they say, cars with that history tend to get retailed through someone like synter select rather than opc's, I would be either looking to reject or if I really love the car looking for a substantial discount

A few months late?? The second service was almost 2 years late.
Should have had a major service in March 2021 including possible spark plug replacement.
Also missed the oil change in March 2023.
'Full service history' is wrongly increasingly seen as the car has had all its manufacturer approved services at the correct time and mileage but this is increasingly rarely the case.
Unless you specifically asked for dates and mileages and exact service work done you would probably be struggling with reject route tbh. Rather depends on your OPC relationship. Does look they have pulled a fast one with the old 'its in the post' chestnut/cover up.
I would speak to them to see how they intend resolving the issue. The gaps in the service history will undoubtedly affect the cars value and will doubtless be picked up on when you sell the car on. But if you are happy with the car and can live with the sketch history suggest a part refund perhaps but good luck with that.

It's a difficult one, you have paid a premium for an opc car.
What you have been supplied with is a car with a sub standard s/h that I would expect a non opc or to be selling, doubt a lot of Porsche specialists would be happy selling with that gap in the history.
It really is a case of how much would you want back to make you happy with the deal. I would also want it in writing from Porsche GB that they will honour any engine claims under warranty should the worst happen with that history. That might push them to giving you your money back if that's the route you decide.

It's PDK so shouldn't be an issue and the dealership is around 250 miles away. I know the rev limiter works though lol. I had been looking for ages for the right spec and bought this without seeing it due to the distance. I thought it'd be ok buying from Porsche with a 2 year warranty.

Shouldn't the 2nd service been done in March 2021 and not November 2022 i.e it's 20 months late?
Yes, my slip-up. I lost a year somewhere. 20 months late is a bit of a stretch.
As someone else said, I wonder if it had an oil change somewhere in between, perhaps at an indy? We often hear these days about main dealers chucking old service paperwork away due to data protection etc.
Overall I agree it seems reasonable for you to press Porsche for a proper explanation of that FSH.

A remarkably similar experience posted on the PCGB forums about a month ago - wonder if it was the same OPC (Notts from memory). To be fair they did (quite rightly) bend over backwards to rectify what seemed to be a genuine error and the buyer was very satisfied in the end.
This is my first Porsche so was looking to join PCGB. Do you know what the outcome was?Response from Porsche dealership below:
Please don’t worry about it –
'I’ve investigated and yes, the service did have a gap from when it was originally due 03/2019. By carrying out the major service on 27.04.2023 (including all additional maintenance items), we were able to align the Porsche service history. The car has had all three services and so does have correct FPSH.
Any Approved Porsche must pass our 111-point check for us to retail it & more importantly, set up an extended warranty. Rest assured, all necessary checks and maintenance work has been carried out as per Porsche requirements.
Your next service is due 03/2025, just under two years from the recent service we carried out.
I hope this reassures you on things however if you’d like to discuss this further, please let me know'.
The OBC tells me the service due is December 2024 which I am not too bothered about. However, I am reading the response as it has had 40 months between the 1st and 2nd service and according to the service book never had spark plugs changed. Any ideas welcome.

I wouldn't accept that response, they are clearly trying to fob u off. They know they have cocked up.
40 months between oil changes is unacceptable on a mondeo let alone a Porsche. Porsche themselves clearly state servicing is every 20000 miles or 2 years whichever comes first.
Do you think they will leave it 40 months before contacting you to tell you your next service is due??
Stand up for yourself, if you had seen this car for sale privately with that service gap would you of bought it??
