Admiral have almost doubled my multi car quote. Ouch. They've come down a bit after some serious whinging, but still, piss takers. Any advice on where to look beyond the usual comparison sites, none of which are being competitive? Cars are a GTS4.0 and a B9 RS5.

Lockton wanted £1400 just for the Cayman and the same for the RS5. LV won't quote, neither will NFU. Adrian Flux want my first born as part payment and the second born a few months later it would appear. I'm waiting on CK and Chubb to call me back tomorrow.

I'm 51 and have been well behaved for years and have loads of NCD. Anyone else had an unpleasant insurance shock recently? I'm assuming this is a sign of the times as the insurers all jump on the cost of living bad wagon and we all have to take one for the team!?

It seems insurance is becoming a joke now although my Cayman price wasn’t to bad.
I also have a Tesla model 3 performance (company car) and it seems those insurance price are going up big.
As for the used RR sport I recently bought, I was staggered how many companies won’t even touch them and is the first car I’ve ever had where insurance is 4 figs.

Yes, not the 911, but our family car went up by 150%+with Admiral to the point they now refuse to insure it. A few claims this year and that it's a range rover in London (thefts) doesn't help either.

Saw friend last night and they also fell of their chair getting renewals for their Audi A3 and F-pace. None of their circumstances or no claims has changed.

Insurers are claiming due to parts shortages they are having to lend hire cars for longer when people claim so that's why prices are up. Load of b#llocks!

My Wife was speaking to friends at work today and they've had their insurance doubled courtesy of Admiral.

Don't bother with Aviva either. 2.3k
M&S. 2.3k. Just for the Audi

I think the RS5 is falling into that category. I cannot get to below 4 figures. To be fair, it is a ballistic missile in a nice party dress, but even so...

The prices reflect the costs being incurred. The prices you get are competitive, you just don’t like them.

My insurance went up 50% this year, even after a haggle.

Their costs have doubled? I doubt it. You’re right though, I don’t like it.

Do you have keyless entry or any unusual options? I did a recent quote and admiral was a bit higher (approx £50) than last year but nothing too frightening.

Back in March I was looking at buying a BMW 440i and got a quote of £430. Didn't buy it in the the end. Out of curiosity, I just ran a new quote for the same car and it's coming up with £636!

My multi-car (992 and X5) was £1250 last year and jumped to £1850 this year with Admiral. I haggled and got them down to £1,550 but struggled to get other multi-car quotes and others want a tracker. I’ve bitten the bullet but bit of a frustrating process. The X5 is the larger chunk of the cost.

Go check out the various financial results, there isn’t massive money being made. Direct Line made none last year from car insurance….

Repair costs have gone up substantially. Bodyshop costs are up, parts costs are up, parts availability has been terrible for the last couple of years so cars are sitting around for weeks waiting to be repaired whilst insurers are supplying loan cars (that’s the big cost) and then bodyshops charge insurers to score the cars whilst they’re waiting for parts. I reckon repair costs have probably doubled

Never mind all the total loss events from Range Rovers getting stolen in London.

The cost of insuring my early 811 went up by 50% last year but I honestly thought the premium was daft before for the risk/quality of cover (Chubb)

The Audi has keyless entry but it’s disabled and the keys are kept in faraday pouches but I don’t imagine insurers care about that, just that it has it. The Porsche does not. No other odd options. They’re both standard.

We had two cars insured via Saga which used to be on a multi-car policy but we separated them a few years ago as it was cheaper. They renew on the same day. A 2022 Cayman GTS and a 2019 Leon 2.0 FR Sport.

We took the option last year to fix the price for the Cayman for three years at £320 annually. Seems quite prudent now.

Didn't do this for the Leon and the renewal was exactly double last year, £180 to £360. Subsequently changed the Leon for a Born but Saga were still quite expensive so moved to Churchill at £270.

I’m sure some costs have gone up. I read the average increase to premiums has been 8% but it would appear the folks with nice cars that manage to not get them stolen and keep them on the road are taking a disproportionate hit.

I could be wrong. It does happen ;-)

Speak to Classicline regarding the Porsche (https://www.classiclineinsurance.co.uk/porsche-insurance/), the Audi isn't something they'd cover but my 911 and Boxster are with them and I've found them to be excellent.

If it makes you feel any better I was recently quoted £2200 to insure my A2 laugh

I must live in a crime hotspot. I’ve been trying single quotes as well and it’s not going well. Nice one for fixing over 3 years!

I shall add classicline to the list.

Thanks!
