Hi guys and girls

I'm converting to a Porsche - the father in law has had his way. Previous Gallardo, C63 and Bentley Cont owner looking for a more usable year round car at a more reasonable price point.

I've narrowed it down to these motors I like in lairy colours. Ones a GTS one just an S - ignoring the mileage differences etc. Is the GTS a justifiable price increase etc and given the choice of the two which would you opt for?

Thanks guys

Very different cars.

-High Mileage Manual S £41k
-Low Mileage PDK GTS £56k

The Manual /PDK is so fundamental that would be the decider for me.

Due to 718 being so lightly specced as standard you really need to understand what you are getting and what you are not.

GTS has standard a/c, not climate control, -10mm PASM (so 10mm higher than the standard) which would be a negative to me.
S doesn't have electric folding mirrors? The ad doesn't specify and they don't have a photo of the door card where you could see that.
Standard dash, rather than leather/alcantara on both etc

Of the 2 the GTS would be my pick, but think I'd keep looking. It depends on how sensitive you are to the specification?

What M11rph says. The extras vary massively from car to car so you need to know what are your must haves.
For me the leather interior really adds to the car and neither of those have it. Normally the GTS is 10-15k over a similar age and spec S and if cost not an issue the GTS would be the one to go for.
Look at a few more.

Brilliant guys thanks for your input.

Brand new to Porsche as a brand but keen to get into one in the next few weeks.

I’d like a GTS I think and whilst orange is a marmite colour I quite like it.

I’ll keep looking.

Is there a year Reg. for the most recent model/facelift etc?

Cheers

The biggest change on the GTS was the move to a 4.0 flat 6 from a 2.5 flat 4 a couple of years ago. I’d recommend driving both if they’re both in your budget range as the power delivery is different. For the sake of completeness there is no right or wrong choice here, you’ll like what you like.

The ad for the orange one states Manual but the picture shows it is a PDK also.

Correct. Saw it on Saturday. Theres also a similar spec GTS in miami blue listed for 3k less than the Orange. I've been talking with them and very close to pulling the trigger or being sensible and sitting it out until next Summer.

Nothing other than they seem to have made Miami Blue look more like Rivieria Blue. Whether that is down to lighting or picture editing.

PASM is 20mm lower than standard. Optionally available in a comfort chassis with -10mm lower than normal. I drive a 981 with PASM and its more comfortable than the equivalent non PASM car on 20" wheels, and much more usable as a daily car.

By 10mm higher than the standard, I was refering to the standard set up on the GTS which is -20mm (over a base 718 suspension), the -10mm Option being 10mm higher than that Standard GTS offering. (GT4 is -30mm over 718 Standard)
It is something which causes confusion, not helped when the 911 options are worded differently.

Each to their own. I really don't see any benefit to the 10mm higher set up, the ride is extremely compliant anyway, to the point where I only use Normal Chassis perhaps a third of the time, really not needed if you are on most european roads at any time and that extra bit of height is strangely noticeable from the side on view.

That's the joy of such an extensive options list, but it does mean you need to know what you are buying and how it fits in with your preferences and intended use.

Ah, I see and agree on both counts of comfort with std -20 PASM and that Porsche get their verbal knickers in a massive twist over this!
