Hi all - I'm on the hunt for my first Boxter and went to have a look this afternoon at a 981 2.7 pdk which is the first I've gone to see.

I was looking at the wheels/ tyres / arches and noticed that the lip on the inside of the wheel arch on both fronts (but not the rears) started off square to the car body but had been "rolled" in on itself as it got closer to the top of the wheel - I should have taken a picture in hindsight. I assume this is in order to fit bigger wheels without them rubbing on the arch? I assume someone had done that rather than it being standard as it looked pretty uneven - but interested to know from anyone with experience whether that is normal?

Secondly, it had a brand new set of p-zeros but not "N" rated, the dealer was insinuating it's a Porsche tax/ con to make you pay more for tyres and the non N rated were completely fine - any views on this?

It had some missing services and the paint had quite a few scuffs - so largely moot on the above points as to whether I would have bought it, but eager to learn for my next viewing!

Sounds like a bit of a duffer, and what would anyone fit non N-rated P Zeros? N rated may be a marginal gain, but the attitude smacks on penny pinching and/or ignorance. A bit like saying you can run your Porsche on 95 ron petrol, and 98s a con.

The arches are rolled in on themselves as standard but if they looked uneven side to side, perhaps it has had a repair?

Personally, I wouldn't be unduly concerned about whether or not the tyres were n-rated. I somewhat agree with the dealer. On a brand new car sure but on one which is 10 years old, I'd rather just have whatever the most up-to-date tyre is at the moment. I wouldn't chose P-Zeros but that is a whole other topic.
