Where to get 987.2 PCM to iphone wire
Discussion
As per the title really - I've just got a Cayman R and whilst I can plug my iPhone into the Aux socket, I'd love to plug my Bovee in so I can stream it wirelessly, but I need this magic cable - Design 911 don't seem to have it, Porsche Hatfield don't have it (and say Porsche don't make it any more)...any other wise ideas? If I google I find various websites that list it, but most are in the US so I foresee them being a pain.
Here's a pic of it - part number is apparently 99761247102

That's annoying if they're offering stuff they can't supply.
I had a similar issue trying to get hold of a cruise control stalk, just checked Ebay every day until one turned up.
Good luck with it, hopefully you find one. Quite a few people changing their head units, so might be worth putting up a few wanted ads on the forums or Facebook.

Hi OP, I had one of those cables in my 987.2, they weren't much good to be honest.
Hadn't heard of a Bovee but seems it might be a bluetooth transmitter that goes into the serial port?
What I ended up doing was buying a bluetooth transmitter which plugged into the AUX input & USB for power. Something like one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-Transmitter-Rec...
Note: haven't actually used this one, but it looks the same as one bought 6/7 years ago.

Thanks all - I'll have a look online. Disappointed to see Design911 actually have taken my money, despite not having the item in stock.

This isn't a bad idea - only reason I wanted the wire was that I was hoping I'd be able to control the iPhone (a bit) from the headunit. On my Aston V8V I was able to use the skip buttons on the headunit which I find quite handy. However for £10 this looks a decent shout.Hadn't heard of a Bovee but seems it might be a bluetooth transmitter that goes into the serial port?

Ahh, understood. From memory, the audio skipping buttons only worked for music you listened to via the official Apple Music app. Spotify etc did not work with it. But like you I was using a converter to go from Serial to Lightning input so it could've been down to that.Good luck
Hi OP, I'm in exactly the same position having picked up a 997.2 a couple of weeks ago. Been searching for one of these earlier having paid d911 (plus a pretty ridiculous delivery charge) to be told it's on back order and who knows when they'll get one. Just seems to be none around on eBay or anywhere else!
I've just been plugging an MP3 player into the aux socket up to now but it's a bit annoying not being able to have any control from the head unit. I'm hoping they'll bring out the PCCM+ for xx7.2 models at some point.

Yeah, they have my money for now, but I'm rapidly giving up hope. I've emailed another OPC more in hope than anticipation. I've found an AUX/USB wire on ebay for a few quid which will plug into the iPhone and also the USB and aux ports, so hopefully the iphone will charge and give my music. What it won't do, of course, is allow the headunit any kind of control over the phone, but at least it charges this way. I THINK the skip button worked on my Aston so I was hoping it would on the Porker. It's the most infuriating thing, I find, about Porsche of this era. The Bose is already a bit crap, and the actual connectivity is bloody woeful. I might investigate a new headunit, but I recall that that was a bit of a pain because of the Bose (thinking back to my 987.1 I had in 2009).Good luck
I used to use a Y cable with bovee and it worked well. I used Apple Music so not sure about Spotify but albums and playlists showed up and the previous / next buttons worked as you’d expect.
I didn’t want to replace the head unit and lose functionality so went down the route of integrating a box that gives wireless CarPlay and android auto to the PCM 3 unit itself. It’s a real game changer.
There have been a few posts on here about them but the general idea is you open up the unit, plug in a new circuit board and run a cable to a box you hide in the interior. Once fitted you’d never know it was there and can switch between the standard PCM and CarPlay easily. And use the standard Bluetooth for calls. If you’ve ever built a PC it’s much the same.
The one I have and highly recommend is this:

Great support too.

Might be overkill if you don't hold onto it then! I note that these guys appear to have the Y cable available:

I looked there yesterday when I saw your post and it was unavailable which is an odd coincidence...
