Hi

Just picked up my GT4 and the current reg plinth is screwed on so has two small screw holes in the bumper. The holes are on the near limits of the plinth outside the 7 characters so can't be covered by new smaller plate (which I'm putting on the car with only 5 characters and an adhesive plate).

Consequently I need to get the holes filled and repaired before it gets PPF'd in a couple of weeks. Can anyone recommend any mobile repairers who could do a decent job of this in the Herts/Beds/N.London area? I'm not sure 'Chips Away' is the right choice of repairer for this car!

whoever you end up using, make sure they plastic weld up the holes rather than just sticking some filler in as it will likely shrink back and show the outline of the hole over time.

ChipsAway can actually be good but they're a franchise so it depends how good your local guy is. Nowhere near you but the local guy to me in Leeds is great, did a bumper repair on my Cayman years ago and it was basically invisible. Worth getting in touch and asking for photos of previous work maybe.

I’m removing the plinth from the front bumper on my 981 when it is resprayed. Can someone recommend a source of legal, small, stick on number plate please?

Many thanks

Ask for Rick. He'll likely know the exact sizes that will fit your car.

However "legal" and "small" are usually incompatible. You'll probably need to pick one

I got mine from there. The borders and spacing are as small as possible while keeping it legal and there's enough space on the bumper to fit one on with those specs.

Rick did say that to meet the requirements it technically needs to be made of plastic as there's some stuff about being able to bend it and it returns to the original shape, although he's never had issues with anyone being done for the ones he supplies.
