The above car was mine until it decided to combust, yes I was in it at the time. It recently sold via Copart Auctions as a Cat N -fire damaged for £21,000 + £1,600 auction costs. It was written off due to repair costs of £26,500!
Required parts included a new wiring loom, seat, steering wheel, control stalks, airbag, carpet and various trim pieces. The car was stored outside for 7 months without being started and required jump starting, the air conditioning had also developed a fault.
The reason for the post is to give a heads up if it comes up for sale privately, there is no requirement to notify of an insurance classification on a private sale. Hopefully, anyone thinking of buying it will search the reg.

Similar story with mine although the damage was much less. My insurance estimate was only 17500. I bought mine back off the insurance company so it never went to Copart or it should have ever gone to Copart but it did due to some mix up. It took them 3 weeks to find it for me. I dread to think about the fork lift trucks moving it around as it only had 3 wheels. I then left it untouched for almost 1 year parked up. At least 7 months. I did bolt some replacement suspension to it and get it back on 4 wheels. I maybe started it a couple of times but couldn't drive it as it had no brakes. Anyway I guess the point is dont worry about these being outside for extended periods. All cars are fixable. With a wreck you have to think about what's left that is good and usable. I wouldn't fancy fixing something with interior damage like a fire. But someone else might think its good as the body and suspension is all structurally sound. Who knows. 21k sounds like madness to me for a damaged car like that. I managed to get mine all fixed and driving again for way less than that all said and done. I did think about selling it as a damaged car without repairs or for parts. PDK gearbox from Porsche is 6850 plus VAT on an exchange basis. Add up what you can get for the engine, box and whatever other parts and it all starts to make sense quickly. I think if you had bought that back from the insurance company - assuming way less than 21k - and then sold it yourself you could have made maybe 5k.

Have you considered running (or can anyone with a spare credit?) run a carvertical report to see if the copart auction / damage details are shown? It would be an interesting test case to see if significant damage is reported.Required parts included a new wiring loom, seat, steering wheel, control stalks, airbag, carpet and various trim pieces.
