Recommendation for a low profile trolley jack?
Discussion
Hello!
Are they're any here that do their own spannering on their Cayman? I had to get a wheel off as I had pot hole gifted flat (Grrrr!) but really didn't get a feeling of confidence that the "cheap" jack I got was entirety up to the job. Lets just say I couldn't get the axle stand in place quick enough.
Any recommendations for a half decent jack?
Preferably one that lowers via the bar rather than a valve turn....
Cheers

You need a low profile jack, and I use the Wolf Black in this link:

They're all valve based, so not quite what you're looking for, but mine works for me.

I’ve used one of these on my Z4 for a few years with no problems.
The big wheels work quite well on rougher surfaces as well.
There’s enough space available for the BMW jacking pad so I would have thought the Porsche one should fit.

Also worth picking up one of these, or something similar, if you haven't already:

Yup I got some of those but found the ones I got wouldn't stay in place so pretty much had to hold it up while getting the jack in position and raised. Not easy!https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274613098634
Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. I had to raise it with up down lever action (like a normal jack) but then remove the bar and twist the valve to lower it (which seemed a bit cheap, which of course it was)
I have one of these https://www.sgs-engineering.com/tja15r-light-alumi... Very happy with it.......

Yeah, the ones I have use a T-shaped piece to hold the bung on the car. They work well.Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. I had to raise it with up down lever action (like a normal jack) but then remove the bar and twist the valve to lower it (which seemed a bit cheap, which of course it was)
For the jack, I haven't had a problem with the valve type you describe and I've swapped complete sets of wheels on my drive a few times now.
SGS is generally my go to for things like this. I have this one https://www.sgs-engineering.com/tj2-5lp-low-profil... its low enough and long enough to reach every part of the car with ease. The only downside is it's very heavy, about 40kg. That said its reassuringly hefty so I have no worries of it failing while a car is being lifted
Both the "standard" and low profile Halfords trolley jacks I have leak and don't stay reliably, the low profile one after really not a lot of use. I replaced it with an Arcan one from Costco which was on offer at the time. Feels a much more robust product.
I've lost 2 jacking pucks now by forgetting to remove them from under the Cayman. Thankfully didn't do any damage when they made their bids for freedom. I think I was so happy to finally get the handbrake shoe springs as they should be that I totally forgot all else as I just wanted the job to be over. Lesson learned.

I went for this one ... the jacking pads turn a low entry jack into a higher entry jack ...

Only 1.25 tonnes though, not sure I'd use it on a 1.4 tonne Cayman?I went for this one ... the jacking pads turn a low entry jack into a higher entry jack ...
I bought one of these for working on my car:

Much better & easier to use than my old sealey 2500.
The facom is a bargain at the price.

Max capacity should be at least 75% of the weight of your car (according to my jack leaflet). Unless you are putting the jack in the middle and lifting the whole thing. Not recommended however sturdy the jack
