Morning,

My 981C GTS has some pretty bad gravel rash on the black lower section of the front bumper. Does anyone know the paint code for this if I were to get it prepped and painted please? Body colour is guards red not that I think would make a difference to the black section.

I've read it as described as gloss black but I would have said it has a more satin type look to it than gloss. Alternatively I was mulling over getting it wrapped or black PPF'd.

ta.

It sounds like your car has the optional GTS Exterior Package, which was independent of the main paint colour and like you say paints several of the experior plastic parts in a semi-gloss black paint.

You may need to speak to a Porsche paint shop re. the paint code. It wasn't a super popular option due to the risk of it getting chipped up compared to the regular plastic parts and I've not seen anyone mention getting them repainted.

If you want a new part, it's part number 98150545700 and is £185. May be worth buying a new part rather than getting it painted.

I think that's just the basic plastic part as fitted to all models. In the parts PDF everything else with the experior option painted has a part ending in "OK1".

Might be worth chatting to an OPC though as with an appropriate VIN number there may be a pre-painted part available smile

Correct on Twinfan's point, that is the GTS exterior pack.

Might be worth ringing the OPC for the paint code, alternatively it should be the same colour as your wheels and my understanding is if you pop off the centre caps (where the Porsche crest is) the paint code will be written somewhere there. This is certainly the case on 718, but might be on 981 too?

Please post here if you find the paint code, I'd like to know as my car has the exterior pack too.

Cheers all.

Emailed OPC to verify mine has the GTS Exterior Package and if so what the paint code is. See what they come back with.

I would have thought all the black bits would be the same if was a "package" but the rear diffuser doesn't appear to my eyes to be painted black but I could be wrong.

That sounds wrong to me. The diffuser was painted as part of the option package from the factory.

Just looking at the option sheet.

Code: 089 - GTS black exterior package
[Painted black (high-gloss):
* Front spoiler and air intake
* Lower section of exterior mirrors
* Side air intake
* Rear apron]

Turns out the wheels were a separate option

Code: XDA - Partially painted wheels in black [Incl. Porsche Crest].

Sounds like mine isn't the "GTS Black Exterior" package then from that. If the black bit isn't painted wonder why got such noticeable white chip marks?. I'll snap some pics of the bits I am referring to when I get chance as I'd like it sorting as is quite noticeable. If easier/cheaper to replace then will go that route.

I had a 981 GTS without the option and I seem to recall most parts were raw plastic (e.g. front splitter) but there were other parts that were lightly painted e.g. the parts around the two side outlets of the front bumper where the air flows to the condensors.

It may well be easier just to buy new parts if that's how they come from the factory. I'd see if your OPC can use your VIN and order them in but allow a refund if they're not fully prepped and painted ready to go?

If you're after the small centre lip section then I believe this is the current part no: 98150552702OK1.

It's also available primed (98150552700G2X) which I had assumed was used if the GTS exterior pack was selected. Mine has taken a few hits from stones over the years however it doesn't have any visible white chip marks and I don't have the exterior pack. It makes me wonder if yours could be the primed piece painted satin/ matt black. Would be interesting to see a pic!

Morning,

remembered to get some pics at the weekend when it was dry. I'm sure this is painted on mine but it's not gloss black and the other parts like lower wing mirrors, side vents and rear diffuser feel like just plastic. I think whoever suggested it's been badly painted for some reason is correct. I think I will see if I can order a plain plastic replacement for that whole part if I can work out what I need to replace. :/

Cheers.

It's all this section highlighted. Not my pic and a Boxster but same front end.

The part numbers should be in the PDF I posted. You want the parts for the Sport Desgn Package front bumper.

Alternatively, pop to an OPC with your VIN number and they'll work out what you need.
