I've got a 2010 Boxster 987 with PCM3 and BOSE. I'm wanting to have the unit replaced/enhanced with something with Apple CarPlay that will connect to the BOSE amp, work with the steering wheel controls and (maybe just a nice to have) still show any detail in the central rev counter dial. Any suggestions?

Can't speak for anything but the PCM 3.1 version, but for that one has to open the PCM and add a secondary board and fit a couple of ribbon cables.
The remainder is plug and play.

I bought a head unit of these people (for my 997.1 but same rules apply), they match up a unit, facia and all the conversion leads - including Bose or Non-Bose and Steering Wheel Controls (or not in my case) and supply as a complete kit.

I then paid my Indy for a couple of hours to fit it, including a little DAB aerial on the dash. Youtube videos suggest its DIY, but I did'nt have the time and I'd end up breaking plastic clips and loosing screws.

Works brilliantly, CarPlay via my phone for NAV and Spotify, DAB for 6 Music etc. if needed. I had a Pioneer unit, came to about £450 for the kit and another £160+vat for fitting. I can download a Porsche badge into it, but havent got around to it yet!

All I've lost is the ability to see MPG / Trip on the PCM, I can still see it on the dials. And who cares about MPG on a 3.8 flat 6 anyway?!?

One of the rennlist guys has been working with a Chinese manufacturer to offer 987/997 units that offer all you want with a very oem look.

Link to product.

A few of the 911 guys have been using it and really pleased with it. More so than the Porsche PCCM+

You can buy it with various processors ram etc. but I know nothing about which is the latest. But thought I would mention it.
