I have only had my Spyder for just over 2 months, so roof-down opportunities have been a bit limited, thanks to Global Warming....

In spite of this, I have practised the roof-down/roof-up process a few times, without problem.

Until the sunny Easter Sunday run to the pub a few days ago.

Previously there was no problem getting my fingers under the trailing edge of the rear deck, but now (and since, see pictures, in the current "un-latched" position) - the lid is barely moving when unlatched, not sufficient to insert my fingers. I can now only lift the lid with the aid of a trim removal tool. To be clear, I can definitely hear the mechanism un-latching

There does not seem to be any misalignment of the lid in the aperture, and I have added a drop or 2 of ACF to the pivoting points in the hinge network. The lid seems to move pretty freely once up, anyway, with no hint of stiction.

There was a lengthy thread on Rennlist, with others describing the same problem, but no definitive solution.

I recall that there was a product recall for boot-lid hinges but my local OPC does not think my car is included.

Car is booked in for examination in May.

Any ideas before I trek in for the "They all do that, sir" conversation?

Definitely something wrong there - mine (albeit a 981) still springs up perkily after 7 years, so it needs adjusting or fixing in some way. Don’t be fobbed off with anything less.

I am thinking that the 2 rubber bump stops (one in each of the trailing corners) possibly need a bit of adjustment downwards, to provide a bit more spring effect when the latch is released.
