Active drivetrain mounts - what influences their behaviour?

Is their performance influenced by any of the driver-controllable settings - dampers in “sport” mode, for example, or is everything black-box, driven by vehicle g-forces?

Reason for asking - I wish they were a bit softer when trundling in traffic, for example, when I find it quite difficult to achieve smooth progress at constant speeds between 1k and 2k revs in 1st gear.

Softer engine/transmission mounts in these circumstances would, I am sure, make things a bit easier.

Fluid transfer between the top and bottom chambers of the mount is dependent on engine load.

The parameters are set by the engaged mode (sport/sport+).

Latest version DSC controllers can control the PADMs. Probably some write ups on Rennlist.

No influence from the throttle blip function being engaged?

Not sure which model you have, but I think my 981 GT4 has this. Throttle blip is engaged by Sport mode on my one, which I honestly haven't tried in low speed traffic. Drivetrain feels incredibly smooth in traffic with Sport mode not engaged. Track or fast road silliness with sport and blipper also feels pretty good, so if my car has this, it is performing exceptionally well for me in all circumstances.

(Just Googled it, and my car has got this feature. I'll try to remember to check if it feels bad in low speed traffic tomorrow.)

I honestly couldn’t tell you. As I understand it, on the 981 and similar era, they’re fairly dumb - in as much as they ‘stiffen up’ based on revs alone (more modern variants may be DSC-controlled). So, using a downshift with a significant rev rise, then unless there’s a cutout to the mounts’ resistance control, then they will react. Whether it’s enough time for a meaningful change in fluid displacement within the mount… no idea.
