Hi guys,

I'm collecting my GT4 in a few weeks and I've decided to go with an adhesive front plate as opposed to the plinth. I've seen a few people do this but in 2 different ways. Some get a full legal sized plate which causes an overlap and others get a custom reduced height version that fits bang on within the flat section of the bumper.

Does anyone know what the height is for that flat section by any chance? Have marked it in red in the below image.

I plan to do the same for my new GTS.
Anyone advise same dimension for GTS if it's different from GT4?

I had my s/a front plate from highgatehose vehicle graphics. They have the correct height plates you are looking for. Very helpful. They are about 10 mm lower in height than standard plates and fit perfectly.

A standard size UK front plate is 520mm x 111mm so 442mm x 95mm (15% reduction) should hopefully do that job (without looking overly illegal).

The plate on the blue GT4 is a 3/4 plate which is 390mm x 84mm. There's still a bit more space available on the bumper and I feel it makes sense to cover it.

Does this help

I got my stick on plate from Highgate House. It’s 460 x 101mm. I’d estimate the flat bit as 100mm

Something to add is that you should make sure you tell your SA that you don't want the front plinth adding. They do this as part of the PDI but you need to make sure they put it down on the job sheet or you'll end up with holes in your bumper.

Best to do this before it arrives at the dealership.

Already emailed him this morning letting him know mate. I'm getting mine PPF'd from day 1 so makes no sense having plates on.

I've been running the front plate-free since I picked up last summer, as it went for PPF and I think it looks much nicer plate-free. But having had a 'tug' by the police for no front plate, as I was leaving a recent cars & coffee event.... "do you realise you're missing a vital part of your car sir?", I'll probably succumb to a stick-on plate if I get pulled again, so this thread is useful.

I was told by my PPF installer not to put the vinyl plate on for 2 weeks to allow the PPF to adhere fully as there would be a chance the PPF would lift if the plate was lifted while trying to put it on.

A baby shampoo/water mix in a spray bottle, hairdryer and squeegee, a bit of patience plus lots and lots of measuring and checking and you'll be fine.

I hope this isn't the case, will be a right pain in the ass.

I was told the same. No pressure washing or sticking anything to the PPF until it has properly bonded/set/gone-off.

It's not really that much of a pain. Put your plate in the front screen and explain nicely to your local Rozzer why it's there.

Incredibly arrogant to run without a plate. Just shouts LOOK AT ME.

No getting around it... they look best without a plate. Been running around for 1.5 years like this without a single issue driving past coppers.

That looks nice. Are the letters printed into the backing materials (all one layer) or are the letters stuck on top of the white backing?

Definitely worth paying for a Highgate House sticker plate imho.
They are reflective and although cost more than a black and white vinyl version - you get what you pay for

You wouldn't happen to be the same Yellow GT4 which goes to the Surrey Car Meet C&C events? smile
