Hi guys.....I'm a newbie....I'm one of the last few orders on the Cayman GT4 and I have to confirm my lock in spec tomorrow and I'm expecting delivery mid to late May..... I was informed that my agreement is not price protected and if the delivery is late it will be subject to the price hikes planned in June....I was gobsmacked....Can anyone shine light on this ....is it standard practice???.....

I don't know what comes after the Cayman GT4 ... now called the 718 GT4 ... but it is a great car.

Some prefer the 981, others the 718, but ... and I know that it's early, with what would you replace it ?

I have owned my 981 since 2015 .. a very early car. `Since this time because my OPC told me that I wasn't a good enough customer to buy another new GT car (only bought 5) ... I have had an ongoing plan to make mine the best 981 GT4 that one could own ... and in my eyes it is now magnificent.

But, adding all the very best stuff has added £50k to the new cost.

So if I had the chance of buying the very last GT4, I would spec it carefully and feel lucky.

Porsche are working towards the 718EV which as of now, is no answer to the car you are being offered.

My suggestion would be to make it (spec it) yours, and keep it forever ...

Spec it to yours with the depleted list of options available, don’t pick Bose or 918 buckets for starters….

I honestly don't know how the price rise while waiting for the car thing works. Have previously asked a couple of times when waiting for mine, and will ask again when I (hopefully) get my car next week. It's annoying, but not enough to make me want to buy a car from a different manufacturer

If the price goes up, are you still obligated to buy, so you get your deposit back?

When does the price lock is it at time of build or at time of delivery?

Alas, as I said - I have no clue

Read the contract you have signed - that will govern price rises

I was told that as long as the car went into build before the price rise was implemented then you paid the price at build. Problem you may have is the interest rate but I'd argue the toss.

Pop on the build code so we can have a look.

If your spec locks tomorrow with a May delivery then your order is confirmed and price is locked as per the T&C’s. You will find several posts where people have been asked to pay the price increases however generally this is a price increase between paying a deposit (which is not an order) and the confirmed order. On my 718 GT4 I was 18 months from deposit to delivery and 7 months from confirmed order(final spec) to delivery. I assumed I’d need to pay one price increase (MY22 to MY23) but the dealer honoured the original list price which was appreciated. My Macan GTS was similar, I paid the original list price despite 2 (!!) price increases.
