PDLS+ - slight misbehaviour?
Discussion
Having finally picked up my (new to me) Spyder earlier in the week, I had a fairly lengthy drive back home, much of it in the dark, so had the opportunity to explore PDLS+.
Firstly - PDLS+ was excellent with huge reach on main-beam, and generally very good control whilst using "Auto High Beam", avoiding dazzle for other road users (I hope). It made night driving a much safer and less stressful experience.
However, there seemed to be 2 possible bugs:
- during a long stretch of motorway roadworks with 50mph average speed cameras, I switched on cruise control. Unless it was total hamfistedness on my part, this caused the headlights to switch to normal high-beam - ignoring the presence of any other vehicles, and I had to dip them manually.
- at the end of a dual carriageway (still a 70mph limit), the presence of street lighting fooled the system into "town" mode, which then again caused it to default to ordinary high-beam, again ignoring the presence of other vehicles.
No automated system will be 100% perfect, but I am surprised that it does not default to dipped beam, rather than high beam.
Anyone else experienced this?
