Hi,

I've just been quoted by OPC an eye watering £1400 for an interim (10 year) service on my Boxster...
That's even without spark plug replacement.

The quote includes air conditioning service £300, BFC (not even sure what that means) £190, Ancillary Unit/Chasis visual inspection £100, Tyre sealant replacement £100.

No visual inspection, just a quote over the phone.

Is this to be expect for a minor service?!

Years ago similar service for my 978 costed less than £500...

BFC is brake fluid change I presume.

The Air Conditioning Service at £300 is absolutely nuts though!

You can get a can of tyre sealant gunk for a tenner.

Without the extras it would be £700, which sounds about right. 10yr service is just service, brake fluid and tyre sealant check, unless BFC is brake fluid as stated above?

Servicing has gone up loads, it's worth ringing around and also deciding what NEEDS to be done.

Oh, and an aircon service is £150 at my OPC.

BFC v Brake Fluid Change - required every two years. This is generally not included in quoted price for service by OPC. I would question the need for a £300 AC service unless you are having problems. Spark plugs should be changed every 4 years so theoretically you should not need this for another two years.

10 year minor service (filters, oil, 10 year inspection and brake fluid) was £760 at my local OPC in Belfast for comparison

My recent 8yr service an aircon re-gas was a ‘recommendation’ not a requirement. And yes was quoted a ridiculous price which was politely declined.

Definitely question what’s needed vs optional. I’d also question the choice of OPC if this is their opening quote.

As above, it’s certainly worth phoning around as OPC prices can vary hugely. I was quoted some truly comical numbers last year from some of the Porsche owned OPCs before finding a far better deal elsewhere.

I’d try a good independent, at ten years old there’s not much resale premium of keeping to OPC servicing.

Agreed. At 10 years old a stamp from a reputable Indie is worth just as much as a main dealer stamp, unless you have an extended Porsche warranty.
