I know this has been raised before but up to date views welcome
My 2921 cayman s runs on 19 inch wheels and was supplied with Yokohama advan sport summer tyres.
It’s my only car and used in all weather etc mostly city driving with some longer motorway journeys and never on a track or for that matter near its limits
The rear tyres have lasted 13000 miles
The Yokohamas are £216
Is it worth paying more for Michelins? They are £267 from Asda of all places ( I’d change all 4)
Reviews say they are better but will they last any longer?
Historically I’ve got 23/25000 out of tyres on the M4 bmw I had before
Or maybe the cayman is just a bit heavy on rears

Most expensive usually but have never had issues with Michelin and grip is normally consistent even as the tyre wears, which isn’t always the case with other brands which can perform much worse as they start to wear. Plus I always find the mileage is surprisingly good, given the tyre performance.

I must be the only person on PH who isn’t a fan of the PS4S, especially in the wet.

I should have added I’ve no personal experience of PS4S, was commenting more on the brand in general having used Pilot Sport, PS2 (multi sets), PSS, PS4 (multi sets), primacy, Cross Climate, Pilot Alpin PA2 and PA5.

Ps4's every time. I have used them on various cars, and apart from the general good grip performance, they are also quiet and more durable than other allegedly premium brands. Might cost you a £100 per set more, but deffo worth it.

I couldn't find N spec 19" Front and Rear Michelin PS4.in 718 OEM tyre sizes
The only full sets of N spec I could find were Pirelli or Yokohama

That hadn’t occurred to me I just searched for the bigger rear tyres as I figured the fronts would be cheaper ( I may be wrong)
I intend to speak to Cardiff Porsche and ask them to price match the internet prices and see if they can supply the Michelins

Not a fan of Pirelli at all. PS4S are grand in the dry, but they just don’t inspire confidence in the wet. Maybe it’s just my driving style.

Subjectively, in 19”, I actually prefer Goodyear Eagle F1s to PS4S.

Also recently tried the new Pirelli PZ4s (not on a Porsche) and thought these were very impressive, especially for ride comfort and reduced road noise. But not sure if these are yet available in N spec.

I've had both PZ4s and PS4S' and tbh the new compound of the PZ4 is pretty good. No issues driving in -6 over the last couple of weeks. I think Pirelli had to up their game as Michelin were wiping the floor with them with the PS4S. The only thing with the PZ4 is the rear tyre stretch on the GTS rears.

Be interested to know if they will price match as my rears will need replacing soon and I would prefer to use them.

I was on GY F1 A2 before my current PS4S.

GYs were more compliant but split all the way round on the fronts inside (faulty, returned).

Is there an up to date Goodyear contender to the PS4S or new Pirellis (I couldn't stand my PZeros N1).

My late 2021 base Cayman was fitted with 18" GY Eagle F1 as delivered just over a year ago (Can't remember any further model numbers, and won't be able to check for a week or so). Didn't fit them until April, as I spent the first few months on winter tyres. Recently swapped back to "winters" (Pirelli Sotto Zero), but the Goodyear F1s are nice. Not sure the wet grip is quite as good as the P Zeroes I had on my last base Cayman, but probably a better all-round summer road tyre. PS4S is a much better sporty proposition that either in the dry, but I live in Lancashire, not California (or even Kent or Surrey). Roads seem predominantly wet except end of May, beginning of June!

Had a couple of hairy moments today thanks to the PS4S. Yes it was wet but I wasn’t pushing on, second time was on one of my favourite corners, a road I know very well. 5.5mm of thread and the geometry is perfect.
Might look for something more suited to the cold, wet conditions.

I got my first set of winter tyres for a "sporty" daily drive almost 10 years ago I think. To me it's a false economy not to nowadays. Not only do summer tyres not provide reliable grip in lower temperatures, but they actually wear faster due to the rubber getting brittle when cold.

I have "track day" and "road" tyres for my 981 GT4, and summer and winter tyres for my base 718. Annoys the hell out of my wife that I have 2 cars, and 2 spare sets of wheels to go with them. However having suitable tyres for the likely conditions seems a bit of a no-brainer to me.

I rather enjoy getting the trolley jack out for the seasonal changeover on the base 718, especially the one in springtime!
