Hi

I keep getting drawn to this 718. However, not know a great deal (just started looking), what are your thoughts? Thanks

Been a while since I configured one of these.

Dual climate control

Heated seats

Red seat belts

Multi function steering wheel.

Rear wiper?

Someone more in the know than me will be along to say if these's are included?

Looks lovely in that colour.

Personally for me I'd want one with extended leather (Dash, door cards,) as it makes them feel far more upmarket inside. But each to their own.

It’s basic spec in that it’s the basic engine (nothing wrong with that), but there are a bunch of optional extras on that T. They certainly weren’t standard in 2017, at any rate.

Edit: hmmm not convinced it is a T actually. T’s had sports chrono by default and that car doesn’t.

Yeah, I note there's not a T in the title, so perhaps 2 T just stands for 2.0 litre turbo?

Firstly it is put a T, the T had more options. I think the advertisement is referring to the T as in turbo.

It’s not completely basic spec, but it’s had a few options ticked when it was being spec’d.

It is definitely "just" a base 718 2.0 Turbo, the T wasn't launched until late 2018 and would have unique fabric seat trim and grey alloys.

It's a reasonable spec, Carrera S 20" alloys too along with the various options already noted.

Not many base Caymans have the extended leather interior as you had to upgrade the seats to leather first. The total cost would be around £2.5k I think.

Many thanks guys.

I know I should drive one next, but reviews seem to criticise the 2.0, suggesting it laggy and not performing as you would expect.

I would be coming from an Audi S3, so completely different!

Thanks again.

please

We had an S3 before our 2.0T 718 funnily enough.

I'd say the 718 was slightly less torquey and responsive at low-ish revs but just keep Sport mode engaged and it's fine. Overall I'd say it was slightly quicker than the S3, it revved a little higher with decent urge all the way through.

Hopefully you can get to try one for yourself and see how you get on with the flat four!

Thanks.

Within my car history I owned a number of Subaru's with a flat 4 boxer, an unmistakable sound track!

Spooky - we had a 1999 Impreza Turbo Loved that thing, had it for three years. Never saw more than 26mpg.

The 718 sounds similar - but subtlety different with a definite deeper and harder edge to it.

Cheers guys.

So perhaps this isn’t a T either, although the exhaust looks different?

Sunny Tyres on a Porsche?

Pirelli & Dunlop also.

Only one of them N rated?

I know I'm fussy about tyres, but I'd want four matching tyres suited to the car.

Agreed. Again, I keep getting drawn back to the first one! Is that folding mirrors I see on the first car above?

Thanks

The first one has dual climate, second one not.

I prefer the steering wheel on the second one, more sporty.

If you view the first one check the front bumper alignment. I'm not sure if it's a bit off where it meets the wings, inside of the headlights?

Compare them both and see what you think. Could be just the photography.

T's are listed in AT as Turbos. To find a real T one has to look for the side stripes and the cloth door pulls are the two most identifiable indicators it is a T listing and not a generic Turbo listing.

Current T's for you

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202212132... (though it is not a limited edition model as the ad claims)

only 3 available...though % wise that is the norm, there is only ever a few for sale at any given point. Rare model.

GE90, The second car you linked to has the basic 18" alloys which have been sprayed black, they were only available in silver from the factory. The calipers have also been painted red, they would have been plain black originally.

I'm not 100% convinced it actually has sat-nav either. It's a very early 718 and I'm sure sat-nav was optional for the first year or so. As mentioned above though, the mix of tyres is the biggest concern and would be an instant turn off for me. I am intrigued about what kind of service history it has!

Agree with those that have said the first one looks nicer. I bought a new one around then.

Sat nav wasn't standard, heated seats weren't standard, rear wiper has never been standard, climate control has never been standard (looks like first one has it, second does not, couldn't live without it), sports steering wheel with controls wasn't standard. Red seat belts? Yep, someone paid for them to be red, but they are not going to have to clean them now. wink

If it helps, I've bought another identical one since. First was a 2017 car, latest is a 2021 also as a new car. For the money, they are just brilliant. Ignore anyone that talks down the exhaust note or torque delivery, they are a sublime driving experience and a joy to own.

Agree with the op, 4 different brands of tyre (2 of which are budget) are not a good sign that of a careful owner. 1st car looks good thought

Thanks again.

So the first one -

What colour do we think this is?
Does it appear to have folding mirrors?
Options seem to be PDK, climate, 20” wheels, multi function steering wheel, rear wiper?
Am I likely to be in for any big ticket service items anytime soon?
Any opinion on asking price?
Any other 718’s known out there, max budget £38k?

Cheers
