I’m not sure if this a new one or if it’s already been doing the rounds under the table, clearly this seller was happy to sell it out of the opc network!
I thought all opc centres only give gt4rs allocations to their very best loyal customers!

well there are countless articles on how Stonehenge was built, but, as with the Gt4RS, I am not sure the wonderment is still there. The amount of articles on the Gt4RS equates to journalists making up end-of-month character count quotas, by plagiarising content, rather than really 'wanting' to write about it. In my opinion.

I think that's just because there are fewer of them, and much less hope of ever owning one for most of us. My 981 GT4 would have been about £82k new I think, I paid £85k for it at 2.5 years old. Pretty affordable given that at 3-6 months old they seemed to be offered way north of £100k a lot of the time. Knowing you might own one adds to the buzz.
Although the talk has been of the GT4 RS not being limited in numbers, demand has by far outstripped supply, and few of them are getting flipped. Those that are for sale involve a premium of paying about twice what the original customer paid, and for a car that is pretty expensive compared to the original GT4 in the first place. To my mind the GT4 was a bargain of a "super-car junior". That is bound to create more buzz than something that's £130k by the time you have most of the necessary extras, but you can only really get a one at a premium, because allocations are much rarer than potential orders.
Add to all that current economic uncertainty, I think it's the general circumstances that mean the buzz feels a little short-lived. The 2016 911R also felt that way to me, but it doesn't make me covet one any less. I think in a couple of years, much like the 911R, there will some GT4 RS available for more sensible money, but I'd be very surprised if either ever get sold for less than their original list price.
I'll leave it to someone else to think of the other 2, but 911R and 964 Carrera RS spring to mind as also within my top 5 best ever Porsche "wish list".

911R was different… we knew how many they would make (991) and that basically all the 918 VIP would be offered first and then trickle through the best customers etc.
For the 4RS… we don’t really know how many will be made, and everyone knows the ‘con’ is on, and is a bit fed up with it… that plus the new market conditions and slow deliveries… also whilst the 4RS is the top dog Cayman… it’s still seen as little brother to GT3 and certainly GT3 RS… it isn’t as flat-out technically accomplished as those cars.. rather offering up its thrills and goodness via fun and feedback…. Which is very important.. but subjective and personal.
I do think that they’ll be made in sufficient numbers that the crazy 75-100k overs won’t last too long.. plus the Spyder RS will dilute and then I think they will do a manual version… which might be a limited numbered car. Too many hints from journos about wondering what it would be like with a manual for Porsche not to tap that well also. So eventually there’ll be enough of the market that if you want a used one you’ll be able to get one with a bit of overs.
At the same price what do you pick 992 GT3 or 4RS?

I personally feel the hype for the gt4rs is gone quicker due to;
Dealers keeping allocations close to their chests.
Unknown production quantity.
The fact that it’s a cayman not a 911.
Even at 130k retail, that’s still a lot of money for a cayman.
The 992 gt3 will be seen as a better car.
Can’t be many people in the Uk who are willing to spend £250k on a cayman.
The demand for cars at overs has fallen sharply.
These GT cars are now not seen as a safe place to leave your money.

The hype has gone because there just aren't enough of them coming through here in the UK, I think it's as simple as that. With the 981 GT4 they were being allocated and turning up so there was lots of chat about getting one, what spec to have, which colours suit it best etc.
It's fabulous for those that have a GT4RS, or an allocation for one, I'm sure they're buzzing. For the rest of us there's nothing to really talk about.

Looks like the one they had before, with price adjustment.I’m not sure if this a new one or if it’s already been doing the rounds under the table, clearly this seller was happy to sell it out of the opc network!

It's an amazing car and absolutely worth the list price IMO. Anyone paying 100K over list has lost the plot and must literally have money to burn.
I think quite a few cars have been delivered now - certainly the Instagram channels covering the GT4 RS are full of cars being delivered to dealerships worldwide and various YouTube channels seem to indicate that deliveries are happening.
I think that given the time of year, most UK cars are not as visible as they may have been if deliveries had taken place in the Summer for example. Certainly, mine is tucked away now until the Spring... Cup 2s and cold temperatures (and poor road conditions) are not a great combination for driving enjoyment.
Given the number of cars I see being delivered via Instagram etc. I think that the production run is in full swing - and most cars seem to be PTS interestingly, so perhaps Porsche are maximising the return on the platform before the all-electric model production begins...
Either way, they are worth what someone is prepared to pay, and what some is prepared to sell for.

This is primarily a UK site though, and the UK has around 40 OPCs? At one or two cars per OPC, with only one likely to have been delivered by now, it's no surprise there's no general chatter on here or across the UK about them winter or not.
There certainly seem to be more in RoW, but that's kind of irrelevant for PH.
