Hi All,
Has anyone got any recent experience of Spyder delivery leadtimes?
I've specced up a car on the configurator, but it's fairly option-heavy although i've kept away from PTS colours.
Local OPC is understandably vague...

Can't help you with a Spyder specifically but it may give you an idea.
I placed an order to my OPC for a 718 GT4 in June '21, my allocation and spec got confirmed December '21 and took delivery of the car April this year. My car has circa £25k of optional extras with no PTS. Like you, when I placed my order OPC game no indication of a time frame, just that they "hope it would arrive within 12 months!"
May be slightly longer now as I've heard about delays with PDLS Plus lights and Bose speakers (depending on your spec of course)
Again, I believe that Spyders are rarer than the GT4, so lead times may be even longer than that (happy to be corrected!), I think it's just luck of the draw really.
We ordered back March 2020 initially a Boxster GTS, this was then changed to a Spyder order in October 2020.
My OPC is Bournemouth in 2021 & 2022 they have been allocated two each model year and no more, we managed to get this Octobers allocation Spyder, but it has now been put back to January production.
So, it will have taken two years four months from the date of the order, until we hopefully take delivery, I hope this helps you.

Unless you've a history with Porsche, I'd be very surprised if you got an allocation for a Spyder. As mentioned, allocations don't come around that often and when they do they are very few and far between.
Be assured your OPC will take a hefty deposit from you but they really need to manage your expectations. The sad thing is even they don't know whats coming from one quarter to the next.
Fingers crossed for you though.

This is correct your dealer will not know when they next get an allocation until it comes and there are way more wanting them than cars. I am getting the 2nd car in 23 but no-one knows when that will be, Good Luck.Be assured your OPC will take a hefty deposit from you but they really need to manage your expectations. By the way they are great cars
I placed a deposit in September 21, got an allocation in May 22 , car is currently in build .
If you are not next in the Q for an allocation i dont think you have any chance of getting a car. My mate put a depsit down in October 21 ( immediately behind mine and still hasnt had an allocation.

Order placed Jan21, was offered a Sept22 build which is currently still stuck at the factory. Production for the platform ends mid next year so i'd say unless you've had a deposit down for a fair while, or you're incredibly lucky, then a new allocation isn't gonna be possible. That's especially true if you don't already have a great relationship with an OPC.

Who said production ends mid next year ?My understanding was that the electric Cayman / Boxster is due 2025.
Porsche I thought were increasing 718 production by bringing on a new production line in Osnabruck next year ?
If my info is correct then surely you will be able to get a Spyder until at least 2024.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Latest is 23 is last year of 718 platform with no Boxster / Cayman models in 24 whilst factory re-tools for all electric replacement. Local OPC only getting 12 cars of all variants in 23 so production is ramping down. Platform will have been in production for 10yrs across 981 and 718 which is 3yrs more than typical life span due to COVID so makes sense to hear the end of production in next 12ish months. Another sign is the run out ‘Style’ model which is typical strategy at end of model life cycle
The 4.0 & GT variants are amazing cars that are likely to be more desirable once the ICE ceases.
Good luck to everyone trying to get an allocation. FYI I waited just under 2yrs from name on list to delivery.
