Brake pedal feel on 718 GTS
Discussion
I have mentioned this previously but can’t find the thread, maybe it needs a thread of its own.
I have a 2019 Cayman GTS, it’s just had a major service and I asked them to have a look at the brakes. I knew the discs and pads were in good condition and indeed that was reported back but my main issue is the amount of pedal travel needed before the brakes start to work, it doesn’t inspire confidence. For reference I have a 981 GT4 with Carbon Ceramics and when they are up to temperature work well, certainly much better than the steels on the GTS.
The Porsche Tech and the service manager both tested them and reported no issues but I got the driver who delivered the car back to me to test them and he thought that they were very poor.
What are my opinions as far as getting the correct brake feel, I know people will say that Porsche brakes are under servoed etc, but I’d like to have them feeling right.

You’re welcome. To be honest, I’m a little surprised that they’re so under the radar. Certainly their Porsche know how far outstrips their social media know how. Their racing work, technical know and restomods that look like works of art should surely qualify them for an article on Porscheheads (sorry Pistonheads)!
Before we start down the road of upgrades the question should be is this correct or does the car have a problem?
I have a 981 and the pedal is a little softer than other Porsches but when you press the pedal the car stops - no question. If your car does not do this then it may have a problem.

I have a similar but opposite situation
Recently changed from a 718 cayman GTS 4.0 to a 718 Spyder. The brake pedal on the GTS felt ‘normal’ to me - however the brake pedal on the Spyder has very little movement in comparison and needs significant pressure put on it. Is this normal in a Spyder / GT4?

Certainly normal for a GT4 on steel/iron brakes. The brakes feel a bit "dead", with little pedal travel, particularly when cold. When you get them up to temperature, especially on track, you realise why they made them like that. Absolutely wonderful feel, and while not as loveable as PCCB, a lot more cost effective for servicing.Recently changed from a 718 cayman GTS 4.0 to a 718 Spyder. I have to get used to hopping between 2 cars. 718 feels "over-assisted" when I haven't driven it for while. GT4 I occasionally have to concentrate to avoid overshooting junctions until I remember they need a good prod, especially when cold.

Otherwise known as a proper brake pedal!Recently changed from a 718 cayman GTS 4.0 to a 718 Spyder.
