Apologies if this has already been discussed but I just got a letter from Porsche GB that my 2015 is recalled to "Replacing axle carrier side section". Obviously this is "no cost" but any idea how much work this involves?
many thanks

the USA did this last year and people on Rennlist were saying that, as long as the parts were availbale it was a half day to a day. Make sure you get them to sort the alignment afterwards.

Many thanks for the replies.
Can it be done by an Independent or Porsche facility only?

Hi Fiesta,
Mine is a 2015 car that was bought over to the UK from Qatar and then sold off at auction where I bought it for a pretty good price. The owner was a wealthy "student" ! Its LHD and no documentation but loaded with every extra Porsche offered, so I am having all the various services that it probably had but alas no paperwork - its only done 25k miles. Its a great car !

Nice. Had mine about 18 months. It's a late 2012 car (Boxster), nice spec (very close to what I would have done), just missing PSE. The service mentioned some blowing on the current exhaust so I'll probably look at that in the spring.

Suspect if you're having services at a dealer, they'll be happy enough to sort this out, especially if you've had the letter so they'll be able to reclaim the cost. A lot of the SE dealers are owned by Porsche UK anyway.

The service record is electronic, and guessing held centrally in Germany. Presume that's how you've caught up with the history?

Hi Fiesta,
I did ask the Porsche garage but they couldnt find any on line records - but no sure how hard they were trying! The one big fault it had was the headlining had come away - probably due to the heat ! Have managed to temporary install it with some cheap clips!

Have you tried a specialist? I know many have links to Zuffenhausen for coding changes etc so wouldn't be surprised if they can get services records too (JZM did the isofix fit and coding on mine).

Interesting that your car is 2015 and being recalled, it was supposedly 2013 to 14 cars only. Any chance you could upload the letter, minus your details of course, to compare with one on the thread Lunar linked to.

They do a wheel alignment as part of the process so don't pay for them to do that. I would read through the thread linked to get an idea of the danger of it failing.
