Anyone got a good cure for fixing the staining you get when car polish gets on the fabric of the roof?

Previous owner wasn’t very careful. Have tried normal washing but it’s not shifted it.

Pencil eraser is good for removing polish stains on plastic trim, can't do any harm to try one on that roof edge.

I would re-colour the roof and then reproof it using Renovo products. Have used it on my Boxster to good effect.

I noticed a couple of greasy fingerprints for some weird reason on my roof so will be having a go at that and doing it’s winter reproofing again.

Lol. I read that first off that I’d chosen the wrong colour rood and should change it. But you mean renew the current colour yes…? hehe

Another plus for Renovo, you can buy a bottle of basically black paint that you brush on and leave to dry. It’s very good.

try some all purpose cleaner and a stiff brush. Keep away from tar removers if you can as this may remove the waterproofing already there. Failing that try putting a post up on Detailing World.

The Autoglym convertible roof kit has a separate cleaner & proofed with a ‘sponge’ that is designed to help with cleaning. In my experience it’s pretty effective & I’ve removed these polish / wax ,arks from my roof using this kit.

Yes, you can also get the Renovo recolour stuff, but that’s a bit excessive when all it needs is a clean….

I would try some all purpose cleaner, a medium nailbrush / detailing brush to agitate and spray off with a pressure washer.

Get yourself some Gtechniq Tri-clean. It’s a fantastic all round cleaner and amazing at removing old polish from trim etc. that would be my first go. Also, don’t go mad with the presssure washer. It’s better to agitate the area with a cleaner and brush (go with the direction of the fabric) and flood off, dry and repeat where needed.

It looks like it has bleached itself. I would recommend getting a felt tip pen that matches the colour of the roof and inking back in on those fibres.
