Hi all,

Was planning on treating myself to a 987 Cayman for my 30th, went to look at a few cars yesterday and I don't bloody fit! I'm 6'4 and very long legged, this means that my left leg is all up in the steering wheel when using the clutch, even at full reach and rake with the seat all the way down, back and upright.

I've seen a few 987 steering wheel spacers online, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them?

These are two i've found:

Thanks

Alex

I have a Carrera 3.2 (1989) and had the same issue. It’s little known, but the Momo Prototypo steering wheel is available with a special offset boss, that raises the steering wheel 10mm off your thighs and also spaces it towards the driver. You’d think the 10mm offset would feel awkward to turn, but it’s indetectable. A big success.

I also have a spacer and Prototipo on my 3.2, would likely also need a spacer for certain other Porsche cars.

If I needed for something more modern than air cooled then I'd maybe look at the Italian guy who had the same issue and started making his own. One of the links you provided may be one of his anyway, looks very similar.

No problem.

I see I managed to post the removal instead of the fitting, but here it is below. The same but in reverse smile

Not sure if it's the same on yours, airbag might be different, but there are other videos.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on with it.
