He won’t actually make a loss. He gets revenue from the videos, therefore he won’t make a loss.
Matt has some balls and is one of my favourite YouTubers. He is so similar yet so different to Harry M. He is himself, honest, humble and just delivers quality content week in week out.
Lets say it is a series of 6 videos, each gaining 1million views each. Matt has some balls and is one of my favourite YouTubers. He is so similar yet so different to Harry M. He is himself, honest, humble and just delivers quality content week in week out.
6 million views = $12K (on average) in YT ad revenue. That will pay for his labour sure.... but that still won't address the loss he is very likely to make on this one.
I wish him the best of luck, I really like his content, but on this one, he chose poorly in my opinion.
He’s building a brand (car care products stocked in Halfords etc) and an ever increasing back catalogue of videos. Might make a loss in the short term but think he will do well longer term. Muck kudos to him for taking on jobs like this that make his content different from the usual drivel of “my friend just brought a Ferrari/Lambo/McLaren xyz”

He will write the cost off as an expense along with all the parts, claim VAT back and he then raffles most of his cars off to recover some of the costs back. He clearly is making money.6 million views = $12K (on average) in YT ad revenue. That will pay for his labour sure.... but that still won't address the loss he is very likely to make on this one.

He's mentioned a few times in his videos about 'owning' three properties, two of which he rents out. Another income stream assuming that he's not having to remortgage any time soon.elan362 said:
Fair play,.looks and sounds great, but The cost to buy and rebuild was £45k
For an insurance write off.
Bonkers from an economic perspective
I predicted 6 million views on the series - and its not far off that....therefore that earns him around $12000 in ad revenue. Near as damn it £10K. For an insurance write off.

Then, factor in the uplift in channel subscribers and views on other content, and he'll certainly have gained more than that in ad-revenue. Not withstanding his sponsorship's. At face value it seems like he'd be making a loss, but he is switched on and will be making money.
I really enjoy the videos he puts out. Far better than the annoying cardashians like Schmee, TGE etc. I haven’t watched any content from them lot for ages as it was simply spec videos x2, picking up video then the inevitable “Why I sold my <xyz>”. Just drivel.
Mat puts a lot of effort in, it’s interesting and entertaining and I love seeing a build through to the end.
Well worth a watch.

Correct, this series will continue to make money every month for the channel for years to come the value in the car is pretty insignificant. By showcasing different cars he attracts different audiences which creates growth for the channel and increases traffic to his previous and future projects. Then, factor in the uplift in channel subscribers and views on other content, and he'll certainly have gained more than that in ad-revenue.
