Hi all,

Looking to book a trackday with the new GT4 before the weather turns and winter arrives however I can’t see any firm answer on what a stock 718 puts out db wise. I know you can turn up at a day and get a noise test however most of the tracks are a fair drive so it would be good to know in advance what the readings typically are.

Can any GT4 owners let me know please? Car is a 2020 model if that makes any difference.

Thanks!

I've not heard of 718GT4's being noise barred ... but there are a few things that I was advised to do to minimise noise ...

1. Ensure that the engine is thoroughly warm
2. Dip the clutch
3. Gently raise the revs to 500 below what they ask for and then ease them very gently upwards towards that number until the reader says OK ...

It's always worth asking also what the reading was ... they are all different !

Factoid ... I once took a Toyota Yaris GRMN to a Porsche trackday and asked what the noise reading was ... it was 75dB ... 1000 times less than the 105dB noise limit smile

My PDK GT4 was fine at Bedford a few months back. I’m there again on Monday.

No way a 718GT4 will fail UK tracks noise limits. Thank the GPFs for that !

Will be fine even at quiet trackdays, if you have fully standard exhaust…..which is nice actually!

Recently read 92dba @ 4k rpm at Goodwood.

Also fine with a replacement silencer as the OEM exhaust is unsilenced at 4000rpm with the valves open.

I got black flagged at Bedford in mine. Tricky there with lower limits and weather dependent.

No issues anywhere else.
