Afternoon all, recently got into a 2015 Boxster GTS, great thing. Exhaust isn't playing (I think). The button makes no difference at all and the sounds are a little muffled through the revs even sport plus. I'm thinking a stuck valve but where to start, any obvs ones? And where would we procure a set of GTS door stickers. TIA and stay safe :-)

Mechanical valve sits either side of the exhaust under the rear valance - you can see a round ended pointy thing with a bar attached that should move back and forward. It should be moveable by hand but they are notorious for seizing, depending on how bad it is you may be able to free it with wd40 or similar. Unfortunately without fabrication they are not repairable so it can be an expensive fix as you have to buy quite a bit of the exhaust system.
An internet search should show up some pics and other owner’s experiences - I’m afraid it’s another piece of poor Porsche design on the recent cars. Check regularly - especially if your car lives outside or is a daily driver in the winter, and keep lubricated with copper grease.
ETA - having checked my car this morning, the valve is actually about 6 inches in from the outside corner on each side and should move vertically up and down when pushed by hand.

Had my exhaust replaced on warranty when they pointed out valves were stuck! Something like 3k for both sides, ridiculous design.

Make a habit of flicking the switch regularly now, can hear valves opening.

Same here… left valve stuck on my previous 981 CS. Left bank exhaust needed replacing. I was amazed it was all covered by the warranty. Yes, £3k a pop… around 5yrs warranty payments!!

I’ve seen a few people on here recommend Highgate House for the stickers. Haven’t bought any myself but I did buy a stick on number plate from them and the quality looks superb! Yet to get it stuck on the car but the service and product so far appear to be top notch!

A main dealer will replace the exhaust = v.expensive and feels like a sledge hammer to crack a nut. I have heard of some independents who will work on them to free them up, but this occasionally needs them to remove the exhaust first so there is a labour charge to factor in.

With the 981 gen onwards there is this issue, plus you'll likely have pdk, PASM, dynamic engine mounts etc, which would make the Porsche extended warranty look quite appealing if I owned one.
