Hi guys,

Looking for some advice, I sold my 991.2 GTS several months ago and want to get into another Porsche.

A GT4 has been playing on my mind for a couple of months now and I've seen this advertised at Porsche Bolton..

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/2022060264...

In terms of specification, would this still hold a good resale value if I was to sell after a year or 2 with around 2k miles pa?

Thanks

If you like the colour it is a good spec and mileage at around £7k over list when new.

Whether you want ceramics on a CS GT4 is personal choice.

Unsure whether it has climate or manual aircon most buyers want climate on the 718 GT4.

Bear in mind it will require its first £1k 2 year service shortly so try to get Bolton to do this as part of the deal.

Despite there being quite a few GT4s for sale not necessarilly of the right spec etc btw with the imminent end to 718 GT4 production imo these will hold their value well not forgetting Porsche GT values are inextricably linked including the 981 GT4 and particularly 991.1 GT3 both of which are holding up remarkably well even at 7 years old with mileage.

718 GT4 at £100k a great package at the money and as a rapid road car not far behind the 991.2 GT3 for pace and overall driver involvement tbh.

Definitely AC. Not climate.

I think a good buy.
That being said residuals are subjective, what’s good in a couple of years in your mind?
££85-90k ?

The sprout one at Bolton is a nice car and spec and price, But if you are going to take on track I would prefer PDK.

That listing is approaching 5 months old. Not withstanding the price (as you'd never get that again for it after 2-3 years of ownership) it is obviously not a hugely desired Gt4. If it was then it wouldn't have been hanging around for 5 months. It isn't desired now, and it won't be in 2 years unless priced to sell fast. So, I would say no, it won't hold a good resale value.

Remember when you couldn’t give away a green 997.1 GT3RS?

Now the most sought after colour.

Tastes change over time.

If you are getting good vibes off the color/spec then go for it...

Bid on it...if you get it enjoy it and it's worth what it's worth when you finish with it.

BTW, it's not a crime to customize the interior a bit - seat belts and seat insert colors...

Irrespective of the GT4 market, the car will have £10-15k dealer margin in the price, so keeping for a year you'll lose at least that much.

Be sure you get to know these cars before you buy one, I bought a new GT4 having had an Elise for 20 years and an Exige for 5, and I didn’t get on with the Porsche. Licence losing territory at the top of 2nd gear made it tricky to exploit/enjoy for my tastes.

The Porsche went after a year and I still have the Lotus’s……..

Can’t comment on the spec as I’m not an expert, but as above have you driven one? I went back to the 911 after thinking the GT4 was for me. It’s an amazing car without a doubt but I missed all the 911 idiosyncrasies and being a lanky git the buckets were extremely uncomfortable for me.

If you’re intending to use it on the track it’s probably perfect though.

Some are forgetting that whilst there are currently are a decent supply of used 718 GT4s now approaching the winter months this is typically an annual and seasonal feature of the Porsche GT market.

What will happen is the better provenance low owner spec mileage and priced cars will sell between now and Spring to enthusiasts and the weird spec less attractive cars will hang around same as they always do. This happened with the 981 GT4 and in part contributed to the very strong prices they still command today with even 7 year old examples with mileage attaining over list price ££ which is clearly having a positive affect on the 718 market too as previously posted. This will inevitably result in prices rising next year as demand increases and supply dwindles especially as we are coming to the end of production although this is anticipated to be slightly curtailed by the economic backdrop we are facing however Porsche GTs obviously will be one of the most resiliant used cars at the money.

The other aspect is that whilst there are more manual 718 GT4s for sale than PDKs, over time it will inevitably be the manual drivers cars e.g. Porsche GTs which will attain the premium prices over PDKsas we move away from manuals with EV production ramping up in fact it is occuring now with the GT3 despite approx parity of transmission on the 991.2 as enthusiasts hang on to their manual cars longer v PDK and we are seeing this now with the hugenumber of flipped PDK GT4s hitting the market already.

Thanks for all the comments guys.

I've not had the chance to drive one as the dealers I have asked do not allow the GT cars to be test driven.

The car will be for weekend use really, but I do intend to do a couple of track days to experience what these cars are designed for.

I know the colour is not everyone's taste, but I like uniqueness, and likely there are not many numbers in Python Green. But then there's the debate between manual and PDK, which I'll not start! 🤣

They are pretty hung on price, so I'll see if I can fight further on the pricing and see if the service can be done.

I have had a V6 in a few different specs for last 7-8 years, its time for a change...... i can always go back and get an Exige again if i dont get on with it.

This was something i have definitely been considering, i did think about buying the 981 GT4 and spending some cash on the gearbox mod to reduce the ratios a little.
Upping the budget for a PDK was also a thought.

So paying attention right now to whats happening, i have noticed a few cars have reduced prices in the last week. JZM Silver PDK has come down 3k for example.

Hope i am not hijacking the thread.

Is that normal OPC policy. they are trying to sell a £100k item and that's their response...The car worlds nuts...

Porsche Sheffield was the most recent to have denied GT test drives.
