Hi, I am really drawn to this yellow S and wanted to know if anyone here recognised it? Looks like it has had a few mods (notwithstanding the terrible graphics long the front and top!)

Thanks!
Ps, I am looking to buy a 987 Cayman in either red, white or yellow. 2.7 or 3.4 will do.

For that money I'd be snapping the hands of Mortimers for their red Cayman they have in stock.

Two different cars, so not comparable.

Personally, I'd rather have a lower mileage, unmolested and documented history 2.7. That said, appreciate it's not the colour you want and less displacement. Good luck with your search.

That 2.7 is crazy money, a bit more gets you something like this 987.2, 3.4 2010 with factory LSD, sports seats, manual, extended leather, nav etc but higher mileage.

I am actually looking for a sub £16k car. Red, yellow or white. Are you selling?

No not selling right now but if I was it'd be approx 4/5k over your budget, just saying for a bit more money you're into gen 2 3.4 territory which is a really sweet engine plus a few other gen 2 perks.

FYI this car cost me (just) less than that red 2.7 including 300 mile delivery from a non-porsche dealer, that was 1.5 years ago though.

Just food for thought I suppose, gen 2 with the LSD is a nice place to be (mine has cayman R springs and bilstien b8's btw if you're wondering about the ride height)

Cheers,
Dunc.

Thanks Dunc, I drove that yellow 987 this morning and it was great, if not a little loud (stainless exhaust.)
I am just trying to arrange a specialist to go and give it the once over before I commit.

Would anyone near Marlow come and view it with me to give me a Porsche opinion? I'll buy you lunch!

It's not a good advert, could still be a nice car though.

Another advert which could do with more detail here

If you weren't just after red or yellow this one below might be worth a shot, it's had a lot of money spent on it certainly

There's a limited amount a well informed enthusiast could do to vet the car. We could look at a few obvious problem spots like the coolant pipes and condensers / rads etc. But you really need the car on a ramp and a technician to give it a look over if you want a proper idea of condition.

Go and view the car. If you really like it, arrange with owner to meet at a specialist with you both ready to do the transaction there and then. Specialist does inspection while you wait, you get the report, if all good, you pay the money and take the car right then. If not, you negotiate on any issues or simply pass.

I think you did really well there, even 1.5 years ago that was a great price. When I was looking last decent 3.4 Gen 2s were more like £25k.

Mine is near identical to the Mortimers (red 2.7) car, only different wheels and 2 years newer. Same mileage. I bought privately so obviously a fair bit less.
I think their car is maybe £1000-1500 overvalued (like most of their stock seems to be) rather than crazily so for a specialist dealer.
But without actually looking at it and inspecting you can't tell. 3 previous owners is super low.

Didn't someone here look at that one and it wouldn't start or something?

No not me. However, I was at mortimers this week and even though their cars are slightly over priced, they are all really well presented.
I'm still looking for a car but as I search, I see more doom and gloom written about the 3.4.
Please send me reassuring words about the cayman!

I had a white 987 S PDK with midnight blue wheels, stripes and badging and a blue interior with white stitching.all the juicy options when new but It took a flight into a field through a fence but was never written off because Porsche recovered it and dealt with it rather than my insurance company.
